The house
The house is centrally located on an acre and a half of private land. Has five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, nice spacious kitchen with all amenities. On the property there is also a gite for Max 4 people and another Villa for 6 people. If available, the property can be rented for 20 people. By arrangement.
Lounge with wood-burning stove and satellite TV (Dutch and Belgian channels). Wifi available, included. Nice terrace on the sunny side, nice view. Also by the pool is an authentic tobacco barn, from the time when the region was the largest tobacco producer in France. Recreational facilities there. Indoor area attractive with so-so, shade and dining tables. Also a nice barbecue.
The location is panoramic, against the cliffs of the Dordogne. Birds abound, from early to late.

The house is 200 metres from the Dordogne; there is also a beautiful free private swimming pool. The private grounds have recently been redone as a park, with free seating areas, a jeu-de-boule court, table tennis, table football, shaded areas. On the grounds there is also a gite, completely independent from the house, no overlap. Various recreational possibilities. Special is the location in Gluges, a village glued to the rock, with its own protected sub-climate, attractively lit.

Wat een aanrader! Prachtig gelegen vakantiehuis op een groot landgoed. Vanuit een schoon en praktisch gelegen zwembad ,kijk je op het pittoreske Gluges en mooie rotspartijen, wat een verwennerij! Royaal huis met badkamer en wc op elke slaapkamer. Ook op regenachtige dagen genoeg plekjes om heerlijk ongestoord weg te dromen in een spannend boek. Ook de omgeving bied vele mogelijkheden om je te vermaken.

Het huis van Jan was gewoonweg fantastisch! Een mooi, groot en praktisch huis. Een mooi uitzicht, leuk zwembad, grote tuin,... Wij komen zeker nog eens terug!
Restaurants, food & wine
The region is rich in nuts and truffles, attractive restaurants with atmosphere and views. Duck and goose are standard. Martel has smaller and larger restaurants, most of them in the medieval market square. Farmers in the neighbourhood sell regional products (cheeses, truffles). Our neighbour manages the nut groves around the house. Also on our own property you will find nuts, grapes and figs. Wines of Cahors and Bergerac are an hour's drive away, and there are several duck farms in the area.
Activities
The region Lot / Dordoge around Laroche-Martel is rich in rivers and castles. Also special and famous caves. The region is very touristic and popular, but our house is located outside the bustle. Along the Dordogne are beaches and a bar, tennis courts, and several canoe rentals. In the neighbourhood you can also go horseback riding (tours). The house has two good bikes for our guests, and there are hiking maps.
Yoga holidays are organised annually by yoga school Susumna.

Further remarks
We have recently adapted our house to a higher level of comfort, with each bedroom having its own shower / bathroom, with or without bath. The terrace from the house is 25 m2 with magnificent views. The comfort in and around the house is high, the tariff favourable with use of swimming pool. We take care of it, with your cooperation.
Additional price info and offers
Additional costs are cleaning €100,- and deposit €300,- Outside the high season lower rates apply. In spring and autumn the swimming water can be cold. September is the sunniest month outside the high season.
