The house
A wonderful house under the oak trees. Fantastic nice authentic atmosphere. The house comes with a brand new kitchen and a new bathroom, both installed November 2023.

The house is situated on an estate in the middle of the forest in a charming atmosphere. HuisjesindeLot is located in the middle of the valley of the River Lot and in Le Quercy nature reserve, on a hill. Beautiful walking area and suitable for cycling. The area has a beautiful mix of nature and culture. Everything from the Dordogne is close by, but you can avoid the tourist crowds here.
Cities such as Cahors and Figeac are nice to visit, as well as the prehistoric caves in Cougnac and Peche Merle. And furthermore Rocamadour, the pilgrimage site of the black Madonna that is built on a rock. The crack in the earth at Padirac and the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France and not forgetting: Souillac, is also fantastic. Pay a visit to the museum of the sculptor Zadkine in Les Arques and of course to the various regional markets or the many music festivals that you will find here in the summer. You can go further canoeing, tennis, golf or discover the wine routes .. Swimming pool and lakes are five kilometers away or go swimming in the river Lot at Douelle beach - a magical experience!

Aanrader voor mensen die van rust, ruimte en al het goeds dat de Lot heeft te bieden houden. Zeer gunstig gelegen op een prachtig terrein, afgelegen en toch in de nabijheid van leuke plaatsjes en fijne restaurantjes. Voor de liefhebber van de sixties en seventies helemaal de bom.
Restaurants, food & wine
No shortage of delicacies in de Lot. Specialties of the Lot are lamb, (goat) cheeses (Rocamadour and the Cantal), walnuts, truffles, foie gras, saffron, melon and the cèpe (porcini mushrooms). The region is also famous for its wines. Previously because of the distinctive black wines, nowadays by the Malbec, which gives a beautiful full wine. The area is therefore popular for wine tours. Lovers of a beautiful wine route can visit and taste more than sixty winemakers.
Activities
Our house is on the border of the Dordogne. All the sights of the Dordogne are close by such as Rocamadour (pilgrimage site built on a rock), the Pech Merle caves, the earth split of Padirac and more. Cahors and Gourdon are both a 15-minute drive away.
The area is excellent for walking and cycling. With us you sit on top of the plateau of the Quercy, a fantastic nature reserve. The air in this area is the cleanest air in France and there are many markets, music festivals, concerts. There is a swimming pool nearby and several lakes (Cazals, Catus). You can also swim in the river Lot or fish (trout and carp).
