The house
L'ANCIENNE VIGNE is a comfortable, fully equipped, detached holiday villa with private pool on the outskirts of Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines, a 15-minute (8 km) drive from the Mediterranean Sea. The house can accommodate 6 people. The villa is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a very quiet residential area. There is hardly any traffic so you can count on plenty of peace and privacy. From the covered terrace you can enjoy breathtaking views over the fields towards the Pyrenees.
The house has a spacious, cosy living room with dining and sitting area with Dutch television (Canal Digital), DVD player and SONOS audio system. There is a fast fibre-optic WiFi connection available, which also has excellent coverage in the garden around the house. Moreover, there is the possibility of streaming using the connected Google Chromecast Mediastreamer.
The spacious kitchen, adjacent to the covered terrace, is equipped with built-in appliances such as ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. A coffee machine, kettle and Dolce Gusto espresso machine are also available. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. A second fridge-freezer is in the garage.
There are two spacious bedrooms on the ground floor. One bedroom with a double bed and one room with two bunk beds with French windows to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a luxurious bathroom with bathtub and double washbasin and a separate toilet.
On the first floor is the third bedroom with a double bed and a cot, with adjacent bathroom and spacious wardrobe room. A second separate toilet is also on the first floor.
All bedrooms have spacious wardrobes and two bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans.
A beautiful garden with Mediterranean vegetation surrounds the villa. The rear garden faces south and offers maximum privacy and opportunities to relax, for example in the private pool, on the spacious covered terrace or around the fixed barbecue. Both sun and shade can be sought in the garden. Shade can be found under the cypress and fig trees at the back of the garden. Garden furniture and 6 luxury loungers are available. This holiday home is also very suitable for a holiday with children. You can use a cot, highchair and playpen, the pool is equipped with a "childproof", by the French government approved NF P90-308 cover, the garden can be closed around and the street can play safely.

Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines is a village at the foot of the Albères Mountains (Pyrenees). It lies about 8 km from the beach (15 minutes). Saint-Génis is famous for its Romanesque church with very old sculptures. Also the adjacent monastery is often visited. In Saint-Génis you can do your daily shopping, but there are also several large supermarkets in the immediate vicinity.
For your orientation: The holiday house is situated in the vicinity of the places: Perpignan, Collioure, Argelès sur mer, Céret and Saint Cyprien.

We hebben het huis nu voor de eerste keer gehuurd en dat voor drie weken. We hebben het heel goed naar ons zin gehad, ruim opgezet huis, gezellige overdekte veranda en fijn zwembad en tuin met elke dag uitkijk op de Pyreneeën.
Rustige en mooie wijk en dicht bij de Carrefour of 10 klm verder bij de LIDL in Boullou. Strand ca 10/15 minuten rijden naar de spaanse grens ca 20 minuten.
Al met al kunnen we dit huis een ieder aanbevelen.

Guido en ik hebben een uitermate prettige week vakantie doorgebracht in L'Ancienne Vigne. In een omgeving waar je diverse uitstapjes kunt maken. We hebben o.a. een mooie wandeling gemaakt vanuit Laroque des Albères, de oude kerk in Saint Génis- des -Fontaines bezocht vanuit het office du Tourisme. Prima bakker trouwens in het dorp. Heerlijk gegeten bij Auberge des Albères.De kust verkend, prachtig, met natuurlijk een bezoek aan Collioure. We hebben inmiddels veel vakantiehuizen, in meerdere landen, bezocht maar niet eerder was een huis zó compleet ingericht èn schoon! We zeggen niet snel we komen terug, maar wie weet.....

Beste Hans en Vera, we hebben 2 weken genoten in jullie “L’ancienne Vigne” .
Het is een mooie villa op een rustige locatie met een prachtig uitzicht.
De inrichting is zeer smaakvol en sfeervol en het huis is echt van alle gemakken voorzien.
De keuken en alle sanitaire voorzieningen waren brandschoon en gelukkig hebben we volop kunnen genieten van het zwembad.
Wij hebben 2 heerlijke weken gehad en zullen jullie huis zeker aanbevelen.

Restaurants, food & wine
The location on the Mediterranean Sea ensures a wide and varied selection of ingredients, including fresh fish and vegetables.
While the choice of ingredients is vast and makes for exciting combinations, it is the stunning simplicity of preparation and purity that define the flavour of Catalan cuisine.
While on holiday, enjoy grilled fresh scampi and Magret de Canard (grilled duck breast), surprisingly easily prepared on the garden's permanent BBQ on a balmy summer evening. You will find perfect quality of these typical regional products in every supermarket.
Or visit one of the many 'caves' for an interesting tour, tasting and/or purchase of a delicious southern French wine. Very pleasant are the house wines (red, white, rosé) that every cave sells in an advantageous 'bag-in-box', to be enjoyed at home on the terrace in the shade of the covered terrace or the waving palm trees.
On Saturday mornings, stroll around the vast market laid out in the picturesque streets of nearby Cerêt. Here you will find a wide range of traditional food (fish, vegetables, honey, fresh and dried herbs, paella, goat's cheese, spicy sausages, fresh bread and much more). While strolling, buy a bag of sweet fried 'churros' that the whole family will dive into with their hands! And of course, you can end your visit to the market with a refreshing drink on a terrace under the plane trees, perhaps accompanied by a plate of salted anchovies, a speciality of Collioure?
Activities
The coast near Saint-Génis is called the Côte Vermeille because of its red rocks. On the coast, you will find many well-kept beaches and beautiful villages, such as Collioure. This old fortress town inspired famous painters like Matisse and Picasso. It is still lovely to linger at one of the terraces or stroll through the old streets with many galleries.
Just across the border in Spain lies Figueres where the museum of Salvador Dalí is located. A nice day trip is a visit to Barcelona (150 km).
A trip through the Pyrenees with its old towns is also worthwhile and the nature is beautiful.
Closer to home is the city of Perpignan. This used to be the city where the kings of Mallorca lived, the palace is still there. This city with many Spanish influences offers many cultural and culinary possibilities.

The deposit is € 200.00. The deposit will be returned to you after your holiday if there are no matters to be settled with the deposit, such as damage caused during your holiday to the house or its furnishings.
The cleaning costs are € 80.00.
In case of normal use, the costs for energy and water are included in the rental price unless otherwise indicated on this page or in the calendars.
