The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

spacious living room of approximately 30m2 with double doors that open on a very sheltered part of the garden with complete privacy. The living room gives with a step down also access to a spacious kitchen of approximately 40 m2 which has remained entirely 'dance son jus'. With another step, the living room connects to a short corridor to the bathroom, a spacious bedroom of approximately 20 m2 with two single beds and, by means of yet another step, a bedroom of approximately 16 m2 with a double bed and a single bed . Both bedrooms give access to the spacious private grounds of one hectare through double garden doors. All rooms are in principle 'ground floor', but the differences in level in the terrain can also be found in the house and make the house unsuitable for use of a wheelchair or walker. The house is essentially L-shaped and forms a sheltered and intimate courtyard with another house. That other house is in use with us, but not during rental of the house and your privacy and exclusive use of the pool are therefore guaranteed. We have excluded the unrest of wifi, TV, satellite dishes and cable connections from our holiday home and for that reason the gite is not suitable for everyone ....

Surroundings

las Gardes is located on a dead end track and can easily be reached with a normal passenger car. The cart track is only used by the local mailman, the residents of a distant other house and of course the residents of Las Gardes themselves. There is hardly any question of agricultural activity: there is no livestock production in the immediate vicinity and the surrounding fields are mainly used for the cultivation of rapeseed, corn and sunflowers.

Activities

LE QUERCY BLANC, UN COIN PERDU ...
The Quercy Blanc is located in the south-west of France, divided between the Lot and Tarn et Garonne departments. A friendly undulating and varied landscape, crossed by rivers and rivers and upholstered with many villages and small towns that have preserved their medieval origins exceptionally well. Like Montaigu de Quercy with its beautiful belfry and lively market (Saturday), Montcuq with an equally cheerful market (Sunday) and imposing donjon from the twelfth century, the fortified towns of Tournon d'Agenais and Lauzerte, located on steep hills. bastides with beautiful central squares such as Monflanquin, Villereal, Castelnau de Montratier and Auvillar, but also Penne d'Agenais, Roquecor, Beauville, Lacour-de-Visa, Puymirol, Puylaroque and Bruniquel (etc., etc.) are vivid witnesses of a great past. The region is not affected by the mass tourism that has left deep marks in the more northerly situated Dordogne. The Quercy Blanc is sometimes called the French Tuscany, or also une autre Provence ... With Tuscany and the other Provence, the Quercy Blanc can at least enjoy a sunny and pleasant climate.

The landscape is ideal for making short trips or not so short wanderings, walking or cycling. The local Offices de Tourisme will be happy to inform you about the many possibilities and routes. Cooling is often a necessity in the summer, but can easily be found in the many recreational lakes. The agricultural character of the region has been preserved, with an emphasis on nuts and fruit growing in orchards, surrounded in the summer with fields full of sunflowers. The towns and villages also like to show their best side: centuries-old monumental churches and churches are the setting for concerts, the characteristic squares are in full use for a variety of activities, such as an art market, a theater performance, a traditional flea market or a nightly marche gourmande, where you can enjoy typical regional products.

Further remarks

The gite of las Gardes is located between Lauzerte and Montaigu de Quercy on a quiet, dead-end track. It consists of an authentic ensemble of two separate gites, of which we offer the largest as summer house for your holiday. The smaller house is used by us, but not when renting the gîte: then we live in the nearby town of Lauzerte and you therefore have the realm exclusively for yourselves. The terrain is one hectare and largely flat, making it ideal for sporting activities such as badminton or football. The gite has a lovely private pool of 10 x 5 meters that is well protected from strange looks (but from whom?) and provides complete privacy. Part of the terrain consists of an orchard with (especially) cherry and nut trees and gives a view into a small valley and the rolling countryside. Apart from the nightly visit of a single owl, fox or roe, the yard and grounds of the gite las Gardes enjoyes a soothing rest. The cottage is very authentic and rustic and is, as it is called in France, completely 'dance son jus'. The cottage includes a spacious living room with a natural stone floor of about 30 m2 including a double sofa bed, a bedroom of 20 m2 with two single beds and a bedroom of 16 m2 with a double bed and a single bed. The kitchen is equipped with authentic hand-made tiles of more than 200 years old and is more than 40 m2 and thus certainly spacious enough for eight people, but is only equipped with basic facilities. The age-old sturdy, thick stone walls provide good protection against excessive heat. We have banned the unrest of wifi, satellite dishes and cable connections from our holiday home and that is why this rustic gite is not suitable for everyone ....
