L' Oustal is a 'maison de maître', a mansion built in 1869, located close to Le Riols in a French hamlet. There are about ten houses. L'Oustal is located furthest back, with from the bedroomsa beautiful view of the garden, the hills and farmlands in the area.
The very thick walls keep the house lovely cool in summer. Besides the very spacious living room there are four large bedrooms, each about 26m2 large. They have cosy, country style furnishings. The windows and special details make the rooms charming. There are private sanitary facilities for guests on every floor: laundry room, WC, shower and bathtub. Next to the living room is an area furnished for relaxation with a billiards table and a bookcase with magazines, books and information about the area. The living room and kitchen are modestly luxurious combined with traditional elements. In the large, cool basement there is room for your car, are accessories for the gazebo, a extra sink and there is an extra refrigerator. Through the cool cellar you walk to the terrace and the big garden,

You will have a spacious garden with terrace. At about one hundred meters away, directly behind the house, runs the river the Aveyron. A nice place to just walk to, sit or daydream or for swimming in summer. The river is shallow throughout the year (in summer, not much deeper than 1 metre), making it attractive for children to play in.

    Heerlijk veel ruimte in huis en tuin in super-stille omgeving met dankzij bewoonde belendende percelen beetje gevoel van dorp. Veel bezienswaardige (Middeleeuwse/gezellige) stadjes/steden/tuinen etc. op afstanden van 5-40 km). Zwemmen in de rivier op 100 mtr afstand, maar beloofde strandje iets verderop was door hoge waterstand (veel regen en onweer gedurende aantal dagen, gelukkig 's nachts) overstroomd. Daardoor ook veel muggen. Niettemin zeker voor families/groepen robuust huis met 5 flinke kamers, 2 badkamers/douches. Aparte WC's. Tijdens ons verblijf op terras achter het huis een paar keer een hert in de tuin mogen aanschouwen. Vooral de stilte en acceptatie door de buren waren enorme pluspunten. Om echt bij te komen en elkaar niet in de weg te zitten absolute aanrader!

    Beste Claus, bedankt voor een fijne week vakantie in het landhuis L’Oustal. Ondanks dat het weer vaak koud en regenachtig was hebben we er heerlijk uit mogen rusten. Het huis is enorm en van alle gemakken voorzien. De tuin met achterin het riviertje zijn een oase van rust. De dagen dat het regende hebben we stadjes zoals Albi en Carcasson bezocht. Met goed weer hebben we de fietsroutes in de omgeving verkent. De stadjes Saint-Antonin Noble-Val, Cordes, Najac, Penne en Laguepie zijn prachtig. Op zondag was er in Saint Antonin een marktje met locale producten. Genoeg te doen!

    Hi Bram en Caroline, we hebben 2 weken heerlijk genoten van la douce France in L’Oustal.
    Jullie sfeervolle huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Het is een combinatie van de uitstraling van een authentiek frans plattelands huis, dat daarnaast op een aantal delen voorzien is van modern opgeknapt en gerenoveerd sanitair (badkamers, douche, wc). Ook de al complete keuken heeft bij de tuin-ingang nog een handige uitbreiding gekregen.
    Hoewel de tuin al schaduwplekken en hangmat-bomen heeft, was de rivier langs de tuin wel erg lekker om af te koelen. Iets verder stroomopwaarts nog een lekker strandje voor de afwisseling. Lekker voor het poedelen in volstrekte rust. Top!!
    De omgeving was heerlijk om te fietsen, marktjes te (be)zoeken en terrasjes te pakken, en van sfeervolle plaatsjes te genieten. De bakker en eerste voorzieningen in Varen (kleine 10 minuutjes fietsen voor vers brood), restaurantjes in Verfeil (La seye et vous, gezellig lokaal frans/ lekker eten), Varen en Najak (erg mooi & hoog!!!) met zijn gorges.
    Markten in Laguepie en Saint Antonin zoals ze horen te zijn in Frankrijk.
    Alles fantastisch ook om te fietsen (relaxte tochtjes, die je als je zelf wil, ook sportief kan maken).

In the direction of Gaillac you will find hills with endless vineyards (Gaillac). The caves can be visited during high season. The area has a number of quality restaurants.

Activities

l’Oustal has an ideal location: a completly quiet spot, without any traffic noise. Still only 2 kilometres away is the lively village Varen for all your daily shopping. There is a baker's, supermarket, post office and tourist office. Plus there is the beautiful 13th century Roman church to visit and the city hall is located in a small 15th century castle.
The area is a walker's paradise, walking routes/maps are available for you. Cycle routes are signposted, One of these routes even runs past the house. You can go cool off at or near the river Aveyron, which runs past the town. Le Riols is located in the Tarn, on the border of three departments:Aveyron in the north, Tarn-et-Garonne in the west and the Tarn to the south and east. All three departments offer great scenery, culture and many attractions. Artists can indulge themselves. Especially in spring and autumn the light is perfect.
This region of the Cathars has exceptional castles and villages. The beautiful village of Cordes sur Ciel is 11 km from the house. The following activities are possible in the vicinity (up to 15km): climbing, swimming, golf, hiking, horse riding, tennis, mountain biking.

Further remarks

Due to fire hazards in high season is not possible to make campfires in the garden. Barbecue no problem. Smoking is not permitted on the top floor. In high season Wifi available other days on request.

The house can also be rented for up to 4 persons. Discount about 100-150 euros per week. Departure and arrival times after consultation. Preferably on Saturdays. In low season the house can also be rented per day. Minimal 3 days. Prices by agreement. Prices do not include cleaning, cleaning of linen and bed linen. This can also be done by the guest. Our contact person will do the final check. Extra energy costs in winter. Dogs are allowed with exception of the top floor.
