The house
On our own property is "Le Tournesol", a tastefully furnished 'gîte with a view', suitable for 4 people.
Downstairs a living room with well-equipped open kitchen, bathroom and toilet. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds each.
Outside you have your own garden with views of the sloping fields where rapeseed, corn, sunflowers and maize are grown. Our orchard is also at your disposal. You can laze about in the sun or shade. Or you can enjoy a babbling brook accessible via a path behind the orchard.
The cottage has wifi, Google Chrome Cast, a music system and a DVD player. There is an info folder with all the attractions in the area. Walking and cycling routes are plotted by Jan and available as GPX files. Many of those routes start on our own property!
Le Tournesol is one and a half kilometres from Bellenaves, where you will find a bakery, butcher, supermarket, restaurant, bar, post office and ATM.

Bellenaves is a village in the department 'Allier' in northern Auvergne. It lies in a varied hilly landscape with fields, meadows, forests, streams and the rivers Sioule and Bouble. Around Saint-Pourcain is a wine-growing area with several "caves" where your Saint-Pourcain wine is grown.
The area is also called the "Bourbonnais", named after the Lords of Bourbon who used to rule here. You will therefore find many castles and (Romanesque) churches. It is a lovely area for walking and cycling and to enjoy peace, space and nature.
The cities of Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, Moulins and Montluçon are less than an hour's drive from Bellenaves. The same goes for the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, an extraordinary nature reserve with extinct volcanoes.

Heel gastvrij ontvangen met een drankje en hapje door Heleen en Jan. De gite is zeer schoon, verzorgd en ruim. Er is goede documentatie aanwezig over bijzonderheden in de omgeving en wandelingen.
Ruime slaapkamers met goede bedden en uitgerust met airco.

Gedurende de autorit waarbij uiteindelijk de lokale wegen en omgeving na de snelweg een steeds vriendelijker en pittoresk Frans karakter gaan krijgen wordt de nieuwsgierigheid naar de Gite alleen maar groter. Eenmaal gearriveerd bij de Gite in Boussat in de streek Auvergne en de motor van de auto uit gaat kom je tot de conclusie dat rust hier “koning” is. Het ijs wordt snel gebroken door een kort maar gezellig samenzijn met de gastheer en gastvrouw. Het koele welkoms drankje is een goede start van hetgeen ons staat te wachten. De ruimte’s in de Gite voldoen aan hetgeen je mag verwachten. Een uitgebreide beschrijving van alle mogelijke “to-do” mogelijkheden in de nabije omgeving is duidelijk en goed gedocumenteerd. En mocht je vragen hebben, Jan en Heleen, goed geïntegreerd in de samenleving zijn zeer bereidwillig om je wegwijs te maken. Gelukkig waren we hierdoor in de mogelijkheid om een lokaal feest te mogen bezoeken waarbij de buitenstaander als welkome gast wordt gezien. En mocht je door het ontstane thuisgevoel op het eind van je verblijf onverhoopt iets vergeten mee retour te nemen naar huis, zelfs dan staan Jan en Heleen nog paraat om te regelen dat alles alsnog wordt geregeld. Voor de rustgenieter is dit een welkom verblijf. We hebben genoten.

Wij zijn een week in de gites geweest van Heleen en Jan.
Wat een prachtige gites, Je bent hier van alles voorzien, en het voelt of je thuis bent.
Jan en Heleen zijn heel vriendelijke mensen die je overal mee willen helpen. Zo kregen wij een mooie digitale fietsroute van Jan. De gites ligt grotendeels uit het zicht van het huis van Heleen en Jan, daardoor heb je alle privacy die je wenst. Bovendien een heerlijke tuin met gemakkelijke stoelen van waaruit je uitkijkt over de glooiende landerijen. Kortom, alles is goed verzorgd door Heleen en Jan. Het was een heerlijk vakantie.

You can also make a trip to the caves around Saint-Pourcain for a wine tasting.
At the weekly markets there are many fresh and local products for sale. For example at the market in Bellenaves on Wednesday morning.
Activities
There is also plenty to see and do in the surrounding area:
- Take a walking or cycling tour and experience the scents and colours of the land.
- Head out by car and discover Auvergne's cultural heritage and landscape.
- A day of sports? You can go canoeing, horse riding, golfing, swimming or fishing.
- If you want to "shop", Vichy or Clermont-Ferrand will certainly do the trick.
- Browse the many flea markets and see what's for sale in antiques and old junk.
- Treat yourself to a day of wellness at one of the thermal spas.
