The house
Le Balat is a traditionally built 1920s French mansion, fully equipped for up to 6 people on a plot of 8000m2. On the ground floor are 3 large rooms; a fully equipped kitchen (with wood-burning stove), a lounge (with fireplace and gas stove) and a sitting room with modern gas stove. There is also a bathroom (shower and toilet). A door from the kitchen leads to a cellar.
On the 1st floor there are 3 large bedrooms, one with a balcony (with stunning views over the valley and the rocks). There is no central heating. On the 2nd floor there is a large attic. There are many original details.
There is a shed for parking the car and a small building where wood is stored. Pets are not welcome due to allergies.

In the far south of the Cantal, about 5 km from the river Lot and 3 km from Cassaniouze, is Le Balat.
The plot of 8000m2 consists mainly of forest and a lawn (in front of the house). A small brook runs across the terrain, where you also find a private source (delicious drinking water). Direct neighbours live at a small (walking) distance.

At a distance of 10 km, there is a wine estate (le Fel) where they produce delicious wines. In the immediate vicinity you can eat in different price ranges. The Cantalese cuisine is excellent with many local dishes.
Activities
At Le Balat, you will find extensive documentation on the many tourist possibilities. The surroundings of Le Balat are mountainous. Le Balat is situated halfway a 10 km long descent to the river Lot.
The Cantal is dazzlingly beautiful. An ideal area for the nature lover. You can cycle, there are beautiful hiking trails, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting and in winter it is also possible to ski or cross-country ski (Monts d'Aubrac / Le Lioran; 45 min.). Enjoying the peace and quiet and yet at a short distance you will find touristic attractive places like Conques, Rocamadour (60 min.), Puy Mary(90 min.), Gorges de la Tryere, Gouffre de Padirac (90 min.) and the river Lot. Nearby cities like Figeac, Aurillac and Rodez are also worth visiting.
In Cassaniouze (3 km) you will find all your daily needs. A baker, a grocer, a church, a shop with household items, a plumber, a blacksmith, a tourist office, a small café, a garage, a hotel/restaurant and a post office are present.

Afgelopen jaar hebben we een heerlijke vakantie gehad in 'Le Balat'. Een ruim huis dat van alle gemakken is voorzien. Ook de tuin is heerlijk groot. We hebben dan ook veel buiten geleefd. De omgeving van Cassaniouze is verrassend divers qua landschap. De eigenaars houden zowel voor- als achteraf op een prettige wijze contact.
Eigenlijk gaan we nooit een tweede keer terug naar eenzelfde bestemming, maar we sluiten niet uit dat we voor dit huis een uitzondering gaan maken.Ruud van der Horst from Oss,
In het mooie Frankrijk is altijd wel wat te doen of van te genieten maar het meest hebben wij genoten van Le Balat waar rust, natuur, geur en goede smaak in een perfecte belichting zijn verenigd.

Wij en onze kinderen hebben van de zomer genoten van dit prachtige huis en de schitterende omgeving. Het huis is sfeervol ingericht en alles is aanwezig wat nodig is. Buiten onder de bomen is het heerlijk toeven, zelfs op het heetst van de dag. Kortom: een heerlijk huis om van daar uit leuke activiteiten te ondernemen. Maar vooral een plek om lekker tot rust te komen en te genieten van het prachtige Frankrijk. Van harte aanbevolen!
