The house
A special stay in Maison QQ. The gite has been completely restored, and is equipped with all mod coms without losing its authentic feel. On the ground floor a pleasant, fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room and a spacious, pretty bathroom. The bedroom is located on the mezzanine floor and has a good quality double bed for a good night's sleep.
Evenings can be spend lounging on the large sofa, reading a good book, watching a film or surfing the net, we also thought about that.
The large private garden is very enjoyable on one of the terrace or relaxing on the sun beds and enjoying the stillness and view. The garden has a great outdoor kitchen for preparing a creative meal on the barbecue. In the morning sun enjoying a delicious French breakfast and closing the day with a good glass of wine. The garden is sunny throughout the day but there are plenty of shadow spots to be found. The temperature inside the gite is always pleasant thanks to the thick natural stone walls.

The gite has a very private setting in a small hamlet. The view over the Combrailles hills is magnificent because the house is slightly higher positioned on a terrain on 2 hectares. Complete privacy without feeling alone. Around the gite a wonderful garden, 150m2 large, with different seating areas. Village with all amenities only 5 minutes driving away.

Geweldig huisje. Klein, maar met een ruime badkamer en van alle gemakken voorzien, waaronder een compleet ingerichte keuken. Meer dan genoeg buitenruimte met heerlijke ligbedden. Bijzonder hartelijke ontvangst.

Wat een geweldige en effectief ingerichte gite voor 2 personen! Van binnen klein maar heel effectief ingericht en buiten een zee aan ruimte met een geweldige buitenkeuken en een heerlijk zonnig terras met voldoende schaduwplekken rondom het huis. Een perfect fietsgebied met acceptabele klimmetjes voor degenen die regelmatig fietsen.

Do you shopping on local markets with fresh produce, a large variety of Auvergne cheeses and delicious regional wine from Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, or spoil yourself in one of the nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. We have put together a list of possibilities for you.
Activities
Le Mont-Dore and SuperBesse (Massif du Sancy) have plenty of possibilities for mountaineering, adventurers and winter sports. Climbing, rock climbing, walking and hiking in summer months. In winter, the area changes into a beautiful (affordable) winter paradise where the Mont Dore and SuperBesse areas are linked as ski areas.
Just outside Châteauneuf-les-Bains, there is a canoeing point and there are plenty of canoe possibilities in nearby Pont-de-Menat.
Horse riding trips can be made with Ayacheval in the village of Ayat sur Sioule.
During the summer season, the true adventurer can make several downhill descents by mountain bike at Le Lioran and SuperBesse. The gondola lift brings you (and your bike) to 1900 meters after which the descent can begin. Enjoy!
The Gorges de la Sioule is a 15-minute drive away. Start at the romantic village of Châteauneuf-les-Bains and take a truly beautiful route along the river Sioule. Along the way, there are plenty of idyllic spots for a delicious pique-nique and then dream away with the sound of the flowing river on the background.
Visit the largest Buddhist temple in Europe, Dhagpo Kundreul Ling, in the town of Biollet. Although not exactly a French experience but no less impressive!
Plenty of swimming, fishing and canoeing in one of the beautiful lakes or of course on the river Sioule.
Take a stroll in one of the cosy villages in the area, visit a flea market or a lively weekly market and or an evening market during summer season. In the country side it is customary to announce events by placing signs by the side of the road, so be aware.
The beautiful area of Le Mont-Dore is a 45-minute drive away. Here you will find a totally different landscape with mountains up to almost 2000 meters high. The village by the same name is worth a visit both in summer and winter.
Visiting Cantal might take some more time, so an overnight stay is certainly a nice option. A rugged and vast mountain range known for its beautiful mountain passes, delicious cheeses and 'Salers' cows. Recommend for the sporty motorist / motorcyclist!
Auvergne is the region in France that has the highest number of AOP cheeses, guaranteeing authenticity and high quality. Bleu d'Auvergne, Cantal, Salers, Fourme d'Ambert and Saint-Nectaire. Make sure to visit Saint-Nectair where the King of Auvergne Cheeses is produced.
Go back in time by following the "Volcano Trail". Once upon a time these mountains reached 5,000 meters, much later volcanoes were formed. Experience and learn more about the history and origins of this natural phenomenon and visit Vulcania theme park and the opposite Volcan de Lemptégy where you literally walk inside a volcano.
