The house
In the heart of France, the Auvergne, this former railway hotel stands on the edge of a historic railway viaduct. The view is magnificent, of the railway bridge and a reservoir.
The house consists of a spacious living room (48m²) with patio doors to the terrace. There are 5 bedrooms, of which 1 family room with queen size bed and a 3pers. bunk bed, 3 rooms with a double bed and 1 room with 2 single beds. Two bathrooms, separate toilet, a piece of yard in front of the house with place for barbecue, jeu de boules etc.
This is the region of peace, space and nature. And of the volcanic area, La Chaine des Puys (Unesco heritage) with the Puy de Dôme as the most famous volcanic mountain. There are numerous lakes (including crater lakes), hiking trails, local markets, rivers, waterfalls, various spring water towns, canoe centres, etc. There are no trains running over the viaduct anymore, but daily groups of bicycle trains pass by. This is a beautiful region for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists.
In less warm periods of the year, the house is easy to keep warm with the wood stove in the living room and radiators in the bedrooms and bathrooms, making it suitable for all seasons.
6 km from the village of Les Ancizes, with 2 bakeries, 2 supermarkets, gas station, tourist office etc.
20 minutes from the motorway (A71) and 45 minutes north-west of Clermont-Ferrand.
Not suitable for people with mobility problems, as there are many stairs.

We zijn goed ontvangen door de lieve en zorgzame gastheer Guido. Zijn Gîte was buiten verwachting goed en praktisch op een prachtige locatie met een uniek uitzicht. We hadden ons geen betere reis kunnen voorstellen. Bedankt !!!

Mooi en bijzonder is de herinnering aan dit verblijf. Nog nooit vanaf het balkon zo een indrukwekkend uitzicht gehad. Met de stilte in de nacht en een huis van alle gemakken voorzien een zeer speciaal plekje in de vakantie herinneringen. Guido bedankt voor deze mogelijkheid en je vriendelijke advisering.

Wij hebben hier 2 prachtige weken gehad. Het huisje is erg leuk en met name de locatie is schitterend! Je hebt een panoramisch uitzicht over de Vallei des Fades, de Viaduc des Fades en het stuwmeer. Werkelijk adembenemend mooi.Verder liep er in de buurt van het appartement een poes met 3 jonge kittens, deze zijn van de eigenaar van het appartement. Onze kinderen zijn dol op de kitten. Alleen al met de kittens hebben ze zich uren vermaakt.
In de nabije omgeving zijn 3 bewaakte zwemstrandjes aan het stuwmeer en er is een grote zwemvijver in de buurt waar je heerlijk kunt zwemmen (l'Étang Phillipe) en suppen. Ook kun je heerlijk zwemmen en suppen in het kratermeer Gour de Tazenat. Verder zijn er talloze mogelijkheden om te wandelen en met ruim een uur rijden kun je de Puy de Dôme of de Puy de Sancy bewonderen.
Voorbij het appartement loopt overigens een oud treinspoor, welke alleen nog gebruikt wordt door de zogenaamde Vélorail. De Vélorail is een superleuke attractie voor het hele gezin, waarmee je met een fietstreintje boven op de oude spoorbrug kunt komen. Vanaf hier heb je een adembenemend mooi uitzicht.
De gastheer, de eigenaar van het appartement, weet veel over de omgeving en is erg gastvrij.

Auvergne is one of the best cheese regions in France. In the region, you can visit cheese towns such as Saint Nectaire and Salers.
Activities
Just a stone's throw away, there are various water sports possibilities, such as swimming, pedal boats, canoeing, fishing and sailing. Furthermore, it is the ideal environment for the hiker, with the countless forest paths and a beautiful region for sports cyclists (both for mountain biking and racing bikes).

The gîte is located in a former railway hotel at the Viaduc des Fades (built 1901 - 1909 and 132 metres high). One of the most beautiful places of the Auvergne with from every room a spectacular view on the bridge, a dam and a reservoir.
