Area:
The gîte has a very rural setting. From the house you can immediately start the most beautiful walks with wonderful panoramas.
The area has several other hamlets, so peace and quiet but not solitude.
Distance from Vollore Ville: 5 minutes. Courpière: 12 minutes. Thiers: 20 minutes. Clermont Ferrand: 40 minutes. Here is also Aulnat airport.
Lac d'Aubusson is 5 minutes from Le Mayet. You can swim here or enjoy the small beach, there are BBQs for public use and a terrace where you can drink or eat something.
For tourist sights, local festivities, concerts, cultural trips etc we advise you to visit the tourist office in Courpière. They have extensive and up- to- date information about the area.

Al veel van Frankrijk gezien, dit jaar voor het eerst in de Auvergne. Als je houdt van rust , ruimte en natuur ben je hier aan het goede adres. Het huis is een prima uitvalsbasis voor uitstapjes. De steden Thiers, Vichy en Clermont Ferrand zijn prima te berijden en vooral erg mooi om te bezoeken. Wandelen/fietsen kan prima vanuit het huis. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en bij mooi weer is het zwembad erg aangenaam.

Afgelopen juni 2018 hebben we een week in de mooie Gite Le Mayet gezeten.
Na een vriendelijke ontvangst werden we rondgeleid in de mooi verbouwde schuur die nu een rustieke Gite is.
Op de begane grond is een ruime woonkamer met open keuken en een terras met afgesloten tuin.
Op de eerste verdieping een slaapkamer met twee losse bedden, de badkamer met wc en de grote slaapkamer, met fijn 2 persoons bed, met openslaande deuren naar een overdekt terras.
Iets verderop het (onverwarmde) zwembad met (lig)stoelen en een lounche deel.
De omgeving is heerlijk rustig, je kunt er goed wandelen. Iets wat we ook veel gedaan hebben.
In de Gite is een mapje met allerlei info aanwezig, inclusief wandelroutes.
Fietsen kan wel maar dan met een ATB of goede E-bike want de hoogteverschillen zijn fors.
Ook kun je makkelijk de Auvergne gaan verkennen met de auto, je bent snel vanuit de kleine landweggetjes rond de Gite weer op de grotere doorgaande wegen.

Heerlijk huis met een heel fijn zwembad.'Beide lekker koel in een warme zomer. Goed gefaciliteerd, fijne bedden en het ligt in een prachtige omgeving waar je heerlijk kunt wandelen of naar een prachtig meer kunt gaan.
Een aanrader voor natuurliefhebbers die rust zoeken!

The Auvergne is well known for the large number of cheese varieties.
Choosing a type of cheese can become very difficult because of sheer number of cheeses available.
Every restaurant will of course have cheese on the menu.
So if you are a cheese lover you will have the time of you life here!
Activities
For (very) well trained cyclists the possibilities are endless, as well as for walkers. From Le Mayet you can simply walk into the very diverse landscape. Walking map available.
The Auvergne has been named as one of the 10 most prettiest areas in the world by Lonely Planet in 2015, so your walks will surely be a wonderful experience. Travelling by car will also take you along some of the prettiest routes.
There are several possibilities to discover the area on horse back. This is always done under supervision.
For the more adventurous it is possible to take squad tours.
Fishing is possible in Lac d' Aubusson
Of course a visit to Vucania can be part of the programme.
