Breton beaches have preserved their authenticity. They lend themselves perfectly to lazing around or sporting activities. The beaches with their small coves and large, open spaces of fine sand guarantee freedom and enjoyment.
KERALUIC, is located 5 km from the southern coast. As a result, we enjoy the influence of the warm Gulf Stream and can certainly speak of a microclimate. Lots of sunshine hours and little rain. It is not only in the high season that the weather here is nice. In the mild May and June months it is also lovely here. Indian summer extends well into October.
The nearby Pointe de la Torche is a surfer's paradise. The waves there can reach a height of three metres, just like a little further away, at the Tronoën zone. On the contrary, the "du Steir" and "Le Grand Plage" beaches are very quiet and calm, ideal for swimming.
KERALUIC is an excellent base for walking or cycling tours along the many places of interest.
Finistère, an exceptional area, for anyone who loves nature.

Zaterdag einde middag waren we weer thuis

A recommander vivement. Notre séjour nous a beaucoup plu. Nous y reviendrons surement.

    Bonjour Conrad,
    Marie

Restaurants, food & wine

Brittany is the land of galettes and crêpes.
What is the difference between a galette and a crêpe? Well, to be brief: a galette is a thin pancake made from buckwheat flour, a crêpe is also thin but with white flour as a base.
What else can we tell about these pancakes? The history of course!
As buckwheat flour is a cheap product, it was the basis of food in Brittany for centuries. Legend has it that the galette was born from the clumsiness of a farmer who had spilt buckwheat porridge on a hot stone in the fireplace. Such a stone is called a "jalet" in Breton, or "gal" in Old French, which in turn means "stone". That is where the name 'galette' comes from. Alors...
In addition to galettes, crepes have been around since the 20th century. White flour was becoming cheaper and cheaper at the time, so why not try something new? By the way, the word 'crêpe' is derived from the Latin 'crispus' meaning 'thin fabric'.
Anyway, give us a galette. It has something 'traditional' and tastes good too. Especially with a fried egg and some cheese. Enjoy!
Brittany is also an apple region. Therefore, a lot of cider is brewed. Cider is fermented apple juice, not to be confused with 'normal' apple juice that can also contain 'bubbles'. The fermentation process produces a weak alcoholic drink in four varieties: Brut, Doux, Fruité and Le Guillevic, the absolute top of Breton ciders.
Cider is an excellent thirst-quencher and is often drunk with galettes and crêpes in Brittany. But it is also delicious to cook with.

Activities

In the grounds there is a ping-pong table, a volleyball net and a boules court. Next to the gîte is a games room and a small library.
There you will find various games, books in 4 languages, table tennis bats, badminton rackets, etc. There is excellent and free WIFI coverage everywhere on the site.
Fresh bread is available every day from mid-June to mid-September.
In high season, in July and August, the local crepe baker FRED ERIC comes to the campsite every Tuesday evening to bake pancakes.
There are beautiful, very well-marked hiking and cycling routes in the surrounding area. Two of them starting from Keraluic. The walking routes are available for free at reception.

  • Bicycle
  • Near hiking trails
  • Near ATB trails
  • Near riding

Further remarks

In the Chaumiere you will find a spacious three-room flat on the first floor.
Next to the Chaumiere you will find a small green campsite (23 pitches) where you can also rent two solid cotton tents.

Brittany, formerly Armorica, is very varied in terms of landscape. Flattened fields with large-scale agriculture, but also forests further inland. Rugged rocks, gnawed inlets, hidden bays and surprising beaches. Brittany has the most beautiful coastline of France.
In Brittany, there are still many traces of the Celtic culture. You will also find many prehistoric megaliths. Menhirs and dolmens can also be found in the area around Keraluic.
