The house
Now equipped with a beautiful 11 x 5 in-ground pool!
La Bachasse's spacious gîte is built in the stable of a more than 200-year-old farmhouse. The past is reflected in the stone walls and the height, while the comfort is contemporary. Recently, the gîte has undergone a major refreshment, with the interior almost completely renewed. The phenomenal views have remained unchanged.
Layout of the ground floor: entrance hall, living room with seating for 4, large dining table, fully equipped kitchen (including hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge), bathroom (shower and sink), separate toilet, a room with washing machine, and the "atelier", a storage room with freezer and microwave. Upstairs is a large bedroom with queen-size bed, a room adjoining the bedroom with toilet and washbasin, a mezzanine with two single beds (screened with curtains/room dividers), as well as a mezzanine with TV/game/ napping corner. The total area of the house is over 100 m2.
To the side and back of the cottage is a garden of about 400m2 where you have complete privacy. There is also the west-facing terrace with spectacular views over the valley, equipped with dining table and chairs. The garden also has outdoor armchairs, loungers and a picnic table. There is also an east-facing terrace equipped with dining table for breakfast in the sun. The rest of the grounds are also at your disposal, for example to throw a ball on the private boules court, to play a game of table tennis in the woodshed, or to play badminton on one of the lawns. You might run into us, but with almost 7,000m2 the site is so big that you won't easily get in each other's way.
From about mid-June to the end of September, you can use the sun-heated, newly dug 5 x 11-metre pool. There are no other users, apart from ourselves occasionally, and possibly our guests.
For the colder days in spring and autumn, the house has central heating.
The cottage is suitable for couples and families with a maximum of two (older) children (+ small child in extra bed).
There is an opportunity to charge the electric car (via an ordinary socket).

La Bachasse is located in a small village, in the lovely rolling Bocage landscape. Most of the sound here comes from the birds - or the cows in a neighbouring field. About 8 minutes away by car is Aigurande, with bakers, butchers, a large supermarket and a few cafes/restaurants. In 20 minutes you can be in La Chatre, which has a large range of shops, 5 supermarkets, and quite a few restaurants.

We hebben er een hele fijne vakantie gehad. Het is een heel leuk, compleet huis met alle voorzieningen. ook was er een erg mooi groot, nieuw ingegraven zwembad. Het huis ligt in een prachtige omgeving. We zijn er goed uitgerust! Echt een aanrader.
Ook was er een leuk contact met de eigenaren!!Tip: plaats een laadpaal voor de elektrische auto bij het huis.

We verbleven samen met onze twee kinderen (2 en 4 jaar) in La Bachasse. Het was een super verblijf. Alles goed verzorgd, prachtig zwembad, genoeg leuke dingen voor de kinderen (trampoline, schommel, tafeltennis, tafelvoetbal, spelletjes..). De omgeving is ook prachtig en wat wij heel fijn vonden, zeer rustig in het hoogseizoen. De eigenaars wonen aansluitend aan de gite, maar hebben veel respect voor privacy en gaven het gevoel van vertrouwen. Echt een aanrader.

Een zeer sfeervolle en mooi ingerichte gite in een prachtige tuin van 6000m2.
Het net aangelegde ruime zwembad nodigt uit tot een frisse duik.
De omgeving is verrassend: mooie dorpjes met bijzondere historische panden, lokale markten en rustige strandjes aan de oevers van de rivier de Creuse.
Ook culinair valt er het nodige te genieten, kortom een fantastisch vakantieadres .
Restaurants, food & wine
Nearby are restaurants of varying signatures. Some have complete menus for €15, which is fine then, but simple. A smaller number go on the culinary tour - with prices more along the lines of the Dutch. A pizzeria, Asian all-you-can-eat and even McDonald's can also be found in the area.
Vineyards and wineries, which also organise tastings, can be found near Châteaumeillant.
The inhabitants of the Berry are proud of their region and what is made here. So right down to the supermarket, you can buy local products such as meat from the Charolais cows that roam here and goat's cheese.
Activities
It is quiet here, and great for hiking. Each village has therefore set out a few. One of them can be picked up practically from the house. The very nearby Parc des Parelles is a must for walkers. Cycling is also possible, as there is hardly any traffic on the many country roads. Do count on tough hills here and there.
For those who want to swim or water sports, there are a number of lakes with beaches in the vicinity (Pouligny Notre Dame, le Bourg d'Hem, Lac d'Eguzon, Lac Sidiailles), in some cases extended with a playground, zip lines and tree-climbing courses also suitable for older youth. In summer, the lakes are pleasantly crowded (mainly with French people), but not nearly as busy as the coast.
The surrounding area also offers golf, fishing and horse riding.
For more cultural excursions, you can't ignore George Sand here. This Romantic writer, lover of (among others) Chopin, had a large country house with garden (Nohant) and a writer's cottage (Gargilesse) nearby. Both can be visited. You can also find castles (Sarzay, for example), gardens, lots of churches and little churches, and even a Basilica, as well as museums (Argenton s/ Creuse, Chassignolles, St Marcel) in the area.
In the summer months, there are brocantes or vide greniers to visit in several villages, in addition to the regular markets in Aigurande and La Chatre.
