The house
Holiday home La Pichonette. For holidays, a getaway or maybe even a writers' retreat. Enjoy the garden, the peace and quiet and the space. Just the sound of a cow, a buzzard, a tractor in the distance or an occasional passing car on the road ahead. In the middle of the French countryside. Almost always 4 degrees warmer than in the Netherlands. Sitting outside until late autumn. Reading, walking or going out on mountain bikes or e-bikes. Visiting towns and castles. First to the market and then a picnic somewhere by a lake or river?
The house itself. View of limestone walls, old beams. Virtually everything on hand. For two people, for four. Table, chairs, crockery and cutlery for six. A great kitchen. Luckily no TV, no internet (you can use your Whatsapp though). Upstairs, a beautiful oak floor. A very comfortable lits jumeaux. Plenty of room for a travel cot for the smallest children. For (un)expected guests, the sofa downstairs can be pulled out into a double bed.
In the garden a picnic bench, table, chairs, deckchairs. A garden shower to cool down. An inflatable pool for small children or big feet.
And what else? Above all, lots of nature. Woods and farmland. A small river. A group of roe deer in a meadow. Fox tracks in the garden. A beaver on the verge. The sound of the cricket. A kingfisher has been spotted! A mouse under the roof tiles. And very, very many birds of prey.
La Pichonette is for those looking for peace and quiet, for nature lovers, for walkers, for runners, for cyclists, for idlers, for book readers, for lovers of historic gardens, castles, Bourges cathedral or just small Romanesque churches. La Pichonette is fine dining in one of its many small restaurants or, alternatively, extensive home cooking.
Nothing must, everything is allowed. Living like God in France. Perfect for returning to the Netherlands well-rested and with a tan afterwards.

We hebben in La Pichonnette genoten van het Franse platteland. Vanuit het huis is er heerlijk te wandelen en fietsen. Het huis en de tuin zijn compleet en bieden alles wat je nodig hebt. Zeer aan te raden als je geen behoefte hebt aan vermaak van buiten!

La Pichonette is een klein karakteristiek huisje in een landelijke omgeving. Het is er oorverdovend stil en zeer rustig en I n de grote tuin heb je relatief veel privacy als je de plekjes er op uit zoekt. Voor 2 personen biedt het huis meer dan genoeg ruimte, er is een grote keuken met goed fornuis en een fijne lichte badkamer.
Het huisje is oud en de voorzieningen zijn eenvoudig.
Geschikte streek voor lange fietstochten, voor wandelen en MTB vonden wij het niet uitdagend. Bourges is zeker een bezoek waard evenals restaurant “Le Cesar” in Braives (15 km)!
Restaurants, food & wine
In the various restaurants - every village has at least one - you can sit down for afternoon repas. For about €12, you get a starter, main course, cheese, a dessert and coffee after, all of which are of reasonable quality. Some of them also serve evening meals. There is then also a more extensive menu.
In Issoudun - a 25-minute drive away - you will find restaurant La Cognette. Definitely worth the trip.
On Monday mornings there is a market in Lignières (11 km), on Tuesday mornings in St. Aout (12 km).
In the shops, supermarkets and markets, you will find everything you need to cook for yourself. In our opinion, of a better quality than in the Netherlands. Your kitchen is equipped for good frying, baking and making casseroles.
Activities
From holiday home La Pichonette, you can take a ten-minute or half-hour stroll, or go for an hour-long walk among the fields.
Cycling is wonderful in the area. Feel free to take a short or long ride in the gently rolling countryside. The French themselves cycle there too. There are two mountain bikes at your disposal.
A little further away, you can visit markets or medieval towns and castles. The beautiful city of Bourges is 50 minutes away. Nohan, with the museum/country house of George Sand, is half an hour away. Leaflets with more choice are waiting for you on the sideboard.
In Lignieres there is an international concours hippique course for horse lovers.

Further remarks
You go to holiday home La Pichonette if you come for peace and truly black nights. You will enjoy the space. You will probably see a group of deer. You can do as you please in and around La Pichonette. No one is watching you.
Three kilometres away, you can get fresh bread from 6.30 in the morning. In Lignières, 11 kilometres away, you will find shops, a supermarket and a pharmacy. Then you return to your peace and quiet ... in La Pichonette.
Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday.
You bring your own linen. You also clean yourself. And we also greatly appreciate it if you - if necessary - cut the grass. You pay a deposit of € 150 per stay.

Final cleaning 45€ to be settled separately with landlord.
La Pichonette is rented from April to November. Rentals are for a minimum of 2 days, except in August, when it is a whole week, with Saturday as changeover day.
In all cases, you will receive a 10% discount on the second or third week. There is a deposit of € 150.
Please bring your own towels and sheets.
