La Gageure

Located in the Champagne Ardenne region, the Haute Marne department in North-East France 600 km from Utrecht in the village of Les Granges Huguet, holiday home La Gageure is an authentic converted farmhouse. The house is suitable for parties of up to 6 people with children from 6 years old.
At the front, the farmhouse has a large, cosy living kitchen (30 m²) with a wood-burning stove and is equipped with a SMEG six-burner gas cooker with oven and a fridge. The kitchen is very well equipped for hobby cooks. There is no dishwasher. There is a second large fridge in the shed. Behind the kitchen are the (well-stocked) library and garden room of 25-30 m² each, which are comfortably furnished. Upstairs are four large bedrooms with a double bed in each room and a single bed in two rooms as well. The single beds are 90 x 200 cm. The double beds are twice 160 x 200 (mattresses 2 x 80 cm wide) and twice 140 x 200. Woolen and synthetic single and double duvets (200 x 200) and pillows are plentiful. There are also hot water bottles and electric blankets. You should bring your own bed linen, towels and kitchen linen.
Of the bedrooms, three have a large south-facing window and nice views. The fourth room has a west-facing skylight. Upstairs there is also a toilet and a spacious bathroom with sink, separate shower and bathtub. There is an electric radiator in each room. Downstairs (in the barn) is a second bathroom. In the downstairs toilet there is an excellent washing machine. The house is comfortably furnished and offers more than enough room for 6 people. The hot water supply is designed accordingly.

There is a super table tennis table, a music system with good CD player and I-POD docking station and USB connection, as well as puzzles and all kinds of games such as scrabble and settlers. There is no TV, but there is an excellent wireless internet connection. There are many (walking) maps and extensive information on the area.
Next to the living area are two large barns over the depth of the house (15 metres).

The garden behind the house is about 2000 m² with old and young fruit trees and is partly lawned. Paths run through the tall grass to the bottom of the garden where an intimate area has been created for seclusion. The back garden enjoys sunshine all day. There is a large fire pit with a fixed barbecue. You can pick cherries in June and harvest plums (cherries and madeleines) in August. If you come in autumn, you can enjoy apples, pears and walnuts. And in September you will see the vintners of Coiffy Le Haut and its surroundings busy picking grapes and making wine.
For outdoor living, there are chairs and tables, stretchers, two hammocks, parasols and a speedy pool inflatable 1.85-metre pool. The south terrace on the side of the house and a pergola with terrace in the garden behind the house, offer you both sun and shade. The back garden faces west and offers a magnificent sunset behind the hills in the evening. The starry sky at night shows that light pollution is unknown in Haute Marne. The Milky Way is easily visible. At the front of the house, you can enjoy the first rays of the sun on a bench in front of the house in the morning. There is also a seat in the front garden.

Les Granges Huguet is a hamlet consisting of 22 houses. Our house, is located between the villages of Coiffy Le Haut and Coiffy Le Bas. It is one street built on a small ridge. Both in front and behind you overlook vineyards and have a wide view. Our French neighbour has more than 2000 sheep grazing in the meadows in front and behind the house.
