The house
WELCOME, "Soyez les bienvenus", in our nature cottage for two, a gem in the rolling countryside of southern Haute-Marne.
We, Herbert and Margriet a senior couple, live in the French countryside at the gates
of Burgundy and Champagne and offer for rent a holiday home for 2,
which bears the name of the country road on which it is located: "La Jeunesse".
The cottage is perfect for RUST seekers and NATURE lovers.

French doors and windows, via split-level landing (also cloakroom) and stairs to the

spacious bedroom with comfortable 2x80 x200cm bed, bathroom with shower and washbasin, separate toilet and generous closet space.
The whole has been creatively and tastefully decorated with utmost care and love.
If you have a small pet you would like to bring along on holiday, this is possible - after consultation;
we have three cats ourselves, Luna, Lotus and Lieve.

Wij hebben een fantastische week gehad in het huisje van Margriet en Herbert. We hebben ons erg welkom gevoeld, Margriet en Herbert zijn erg vriendelijke, gastvrije mensen. Het huisje is werkelijk super, ingericht met liefde en passie, er is werkelijk overal aan gedacht. De hele week zie je weer nieuwe details die het huisje zo speciaal maken. Margriet en Herbert hebben er echt een zeer persoonlijke touch aan gegeven. De privé tuin die bij het huisje hoort is geweldig. Je kunt er op zeker 5 verschillende plekjes in de mooie bloementuin zitten, in de zon, in de schaduw wat je wilt. Het uitzicht is heerlijk, velden, bossen , alleen maar natuur. Rust en natuur, dat vind je er volop. Houd je van wandelen dan kun je recht vanuit het huisje korte of lange wandelingen maken. Ook in de omgeving zijn veel uitgezette wandel- en fietsroutes. Leuke dorpjes/stadjes om naar toe te gaan vind je er volop, bv. Beze, Champlitte, Langres vonden wij erg leuk. De restaurantjes in de buurt bieden allemaal lekkere en goed betaalbare dagmenu's. (Bart de Bondt in Fayl-Billot, Villa Vauban in Langres, restaurantje op het pleintje in Beze, maar vooral Les 3 Rois in Champlitte vonden wij erg leuk en goed). Kortom wij hebben genoten van de mooie, fijne plek en willen zeker nog eens terug komen!!! Yvonne en Jan

Een heerlijke week genoten, samen met hond Saartje. Alles is in vorige recensies al geschreven en waar. Ik hou het kort met een paar quotes.
Ik kom naar de Haute Marne voor de stilte en de ruimte, De ervaring van stilte bevat meer gevoel van aanwezigheid dan geluid. (vrij naar een gelezen zin).
En voor Margriet en Herbert geldt zeker: rust is onvermijdelijk voor mensen die rust bieden.

Restaurants, food & wine
Vineyards dominated the landscape of Haute Marne from the Middle Ages until the end of the 19th century. A grape disease (the Phylloxera aphid)
brought an abrupt end to this, destroying almost all the vines.
In the 21st century, wine culture is again beginning to emerge in the Haute Marne and with success! The best country wines, such as Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Pinot noir and Blanc de Blanc come from the fields. Wine connoisseurs agree that the quality is beyond reproach.
Nearby you can visit "le Caveau du Muid Montsaugeonnais", which is situated near the border with
Côte-d'Or (Burgundy), only 15 km. by car from La Jeunesse.
In the 9th century, it was the bishop of Langres who chose this place to plant his vineyards.
If you go further south, you can drive the "Route des Grands Crus" from Dijon. A beautiful drive along endless fields full of vines, beautiful castles, impressive, world famous wine houses, lovely rich villages and end in the interesting and cosy Beaune or a little more south, Meursault; very worthwhile!
Activities
The area around "La Jeunesse" offers interesting day trips and excursions.
Destinations can be:
Langres, city with Roman "roots", one of the 50 most beautiful, completely walled
fortified cities of France.
Chaumont, Cohons, Bèze, Champlitte, Auberive, Dijon, Beaune, Besançon,
as well as typical villages that you will encounter along the way.
Furthermore, many historical buildings such as the castles "Des Rosières" and "Le Pailly",
museums and concerts are worth visiting, as well as a wine cellar (see above).
In addition, the lakes "La Vingeanne" and "La Liez" guarantee a refreshing dive.
Every Sunday there are cosy vide-greniers in the area,
where nice and collectible things are offered for sale.
From the gîte you can walk in all directions;
You will enjoy the views and the quiet, lovely landscape.
La Jeunesse lies on the pilgrim route Via-Francigena, which runs from Canterbury to Rome.

The rental price INCLUDES the (normal) use of electricity (lighting), gas (cooking) and water;
bed, bath and kitchen linen, detergents, soap and toilet paper.
In case heating is desirable, the costs are €.40, - per week; these costs will be paid on the spot.
