In Thiérache near Hirson
The gîte de la Cense is a 3-bedroom holiday rental. It is located between Paris and Lille in the green region of Thiérache, in the hamlet of Landouzy la Ville in the Aisne.
With a surface area of 84m², with a breathtaking view over a sea of greenery, this gîte is based on the architecture of an old farmhouse that was completely renovated in 2012.

Mooi ruim huisje met een heerlijke tuin. De landelijke omgeving is zeer fraai. De keuken heeft alles wat je wil plus een fijne oven. Hypermarche's zijn er op een kwartier rijafstand en brood kon geregeld worden bij het huisje. De verhuurders maken oa jam en kaas taart die zeker de moeite waard zijn.

We spend a week with our 3 kids in the house. It is a clean and well decorated house in a beautifull environment. A big garden what is perfects for kids, and good for a BBQ etc. Etienne is a very friendly host, who even baked the best cheese Pie you can imagine. The environment is peacefull and quiet. The villages are great, but don't expect much exitement. Lot of beautifull nature and cute villages. We will get back for sure.

We stayed at the Gite for one week with our two little girls (1.5 and 3 years old). The sleeping room for the children was very cosy, the girls loved it; lots of books and puzzles to play with. The house was nice and clean, including good kitchen equipment.
The owners were very friendly, they gave us a small picknick table and toys to play with for the girls. And even fresh fruits from their trees. The garden was very big, with lots to play for the children (and also sheep and chickens). The direct surrounding did not offer much things to do, but if you are looking for a relaxing week, spending time with your family and reading a book, we surely recommand this place!
Thank you for a very nice holiday, we greatly enjoyed it.

On the spot:
The gite de la Cense is located in a hamlet in the village of Landouzy la Ville. In the heart of the Thiérache bocage, our accommodation offers the possibility to enjoy a playground on a shared area of 2500m².
Near the children's playground, you can observe the sheep that live in this green space, feed our nearby chickens or safely contemplate the heifers that graze in the spring.
Bicycles are available (on request) to accompany you on the small roads of the Ton valley between Aubenton and Etréaupont.
Family activities around the gîte between Hirson, Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache and Chimay:
Forests, natural climbing site, rivers, discovery trails (e.g. Euro Vélo route 3, GR 122), aquatic space, bowling, balneo... nearby.

Further remarks
The south-facing terrace allows you to take full advantage of the sun. The 400m² plot is enclosed and independent with access to a playground on a shared plot for children. For older children, outdoor activities (canoeing, mountain biking, climbing) are a privileged choice in the land of the three rivers.
Inside, the wood-burning stove will be your companion to warm up and extend your evenings. The welcome basket with local products will gather you around a well-stocked table. You can then relax and dream in the three rooms (Coquelicots, Cabane or Aurore).
In the heart of the Thiérache region, you will share moments of conviviality and meet wonderful, sincere and authentic people.
