Our Gite was refurbished in 2018 to a high standard with all new appliances and furniture to make your stay cosy and comfortable. The oven is electric and the hob is an induction style making cleaning needs minimal. There is a separate entrance at the front and double doors leading to the patio area and garden, all of which are fully enclosed for the safety of children and dogs. The master bedroom ( upstairs) hosts a king size bed and has an ensuite large showerroom. Downstairs is a twin bedroom and separate shower room. There is adequate space for 4 adults and a baby. The TV hosts French, English and German channels for the convenience of all our guests. We supply high quality linen and towels (Not beach towels) and cleaning products are also available. Surroundings

The Gite is in the small village of Varenguebec with some 320 inhabitants. It overlooks fields and is very private. There is little noise with the odd tractor passing by in the day. There is no public transport so a car is needed but those fit enough could cycle to the local towns. The village is very safe , however we can offer locked garaging for bicycles.

Heerlijke week gehad in de Gite.
Alles aanwezig in de Gite, prima tuin waarin de honden zich konden vermaken.
Prettige verhuurders Julie en Martin, die naast de Gite wonen.
    Kortom prima verblijf.

    Alles was perfect!
Zeer vriendelijke eigenaars. Water, cider en koekjes bij aankomst. Ook koekjes voor de hond!
Gezellig huisje, ideaal gelegen (D-day stranden op minder dan een half uur, Cherbourg op 45 min, Mont-saint-Michel op 1,5u).
Hondvriendelijk!! De tuin was volledig afgesloten. De hond kon niet weg. De eigenaars hebben zelf 3 honden, ze begrijpen andere hondeneigenaars ;-)
    Een echte aanrader!!

Restaurants, food & wine

There are a host of local restaurants, most offer a "menu du jour" of 3 courses at around 17 Euros and the quality of the food is well received. Wine is plentiful and still relatively cheap and there are local cider producers within the region who invite you to taste the local cider, pomeau and calvados.

Further afield in Portbail, Barnville, Carteret and Cherbourg there are more upmarket restaurants - some Michelin star accredited. Sea food is a local speciality and a must if you like it fresh daily.
We have prepared a list of recommendations in the Gite to aid your stay.

Activities

Gite La Landelle is situated on the Cotentin Peninsula and close to the famous Normandy landing beaches, the historic town of Bayeux is an hours drive, and nearby beautiful market sea-side towns like Portbail, Barfleur and Cherbourg ( where City de La Mer is situated) and home of the Titanic Port of call.
Locally you can find horse riding both in-land and on the beach, fishing, wind-surfing, land yachting, walking routes and cycle routes, horse carriage racing and plenty of Vide -Greniers ( French bric a brac markets) March to October. There are plenty of local museums, especially D-day Landing museums.
Very local to the Gite is a Forest Adventure, historical Abbey, Chateau at Saint Sauveur and scenic walks through the village onto the marais.

  • Near hiking trails
  • Near riding
  • Fishing
  • Water sports

Further remarks

The Gite offers sunbeds, outside dining facilities and a BBQ for dining al fresco. Local trees have been cut back to allow the sun to stay till early evening so that guests can enjoy the sunset listening to the birds.
