The house
La Coubre is one of our 3 holiday homes just 900 metres from the river with its little harbour and 12 km from the coast and sandy beaches. It is situated on the outskirts of the hamlet of Le Petit Chenac on top of a hill, giving you a beautiful view of the Gironde estuary, the village of Chenac and the vineyards. This attractive and comfortable holiday home is suitable for 2 to 3 people.
This former stable was completely renovated in 2017 into a luxurious and bright holiday home, with private garden and covered terrace
La Coubre is largely on the ground floor and features a luxurious fully equipped kitchen, a living room and a bathroom with a separate toilet. Directly after the entrance is the bedroom with a spacious double bed and has beautiful views of the garden and surroundings. The loft has a single bed and plenty of storage space. It is also possible to replace the bed on the mezzanine with a cot of 120 x 60.
This holiday home has a lovely authentic atmosphere. This is partly due to the huge old wall in the living room, which is no less than 4.5 metres high! The luxurious kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, a Nespresso machine and a fridge freezer. In the living room with open kitchen, there is also a spacious dining area and 2 lovely luxury armchairs.
The living room with TV* opens onto a spacious covered terrace with a garden set and luxurious lounge chairs.
A lovely place to enjoy your holiday in the shade of the oak tree.

The surroundings are beautiful and have much to offer. The Plus Beaux Village de France Talmont-sur-Gironde is just around the corner. A beautiful romantic town that you should definitely visit when you are here. Within walking distance, 900 metres, is a small fishing harbour Saint-Seurin-d'uzet, there is a small shop, they sell the local products, such as Pineau de Charentes, a sweet liqueur wine, country wines and of course Cognac.
The landscape is perfect for exploring by bike. One of the many cycling, mountain biking and walking routes in this region, which are all very clearly marked, passes our house. Our garden has several terraces for lazing around, reading or just enjoying nature and the quiet rural surroundings. In addition, there is a swimming pool, great for taking a cooling dip!"

Heerlijke dagen gehad in La Coubre, een heel mooi ingericht en superschoon huisje waar alles werkt en alles is wat je nodig hebt. Het ligt prachtig, enorme tuin waar je uitzicht hebt op de rivier of heuvels en het kerktorentje van Chenac. Stilte, vogels, kikkers.. En een omgeving waar van alles te zien is. En zeer vriendelijke eigenaren. Wat wil je nog meer?!

Hallo Hellen en Jean,
We hebben in jullie gite een geweldige week beleefd waarbij vooral de mooie ligging van jullie huisjes opviel met een wijd uitzicht naar de omgeving. Jullie behulpzaamheid was geweldig met daarbij een vrolijk gemoed. De eerste aanblik van de gite was zeer schoon en in de slaapkamer stond een zeer goed bed met een dikke matras. Op de inrichting van de gite was weinig aan te merken alleen hadden we graag wat meer kastruimte voor onze kleren gehad, enkele extra kookpannen zouden ook niet verkeerd zijn geweest en een eenvoudige muziekinstallatie hebben we gemist. Kortom een week die we graag andere mensen gunnen.

The inner man is well catered for here. Of course, the sea and river provide delicious and healthy food, of which Mouclade Charentaise is a must. This is a dish of Bouchot mussels from the region with saffron, butter and the local drink Pineau de Charentes. But don't miss the famous and delicious oysters of Marennes.
Activities
The sun-drenched Charente-Maritime has something to offer every holidaymaker. It has a special mix of culture, nature, beautiful sights and less than 15 minutes away are the beautiful sandy beaches of Meschers-sur-Gironde and Saint-Georges-de-Didonne. This region by the Gironde river has a wonderful climate with an average of more than 2600 sun hours per year and is one of the most pleasant in France. Characteristic of this area is the tranquillity, the idyllic sandy beaches, charming fishing villages
The great variety of landscapes, the vineyards, sunflowers and a wealth of cultural heritage make it a very attractive area for cycling and walking.
You can also visit beautiful old cities such as Cognac and Bordeaux, or visit an archaeological site in Barzan, less than 3.5 km away.
In addition, you can visit several wine estates to taste and enjoy the famous regional products,
such as the Cognac and the Pineau des Charentes.
