The house
This fully renovated 3-bedrooms house is only 900 meters away from the Gironde river (12 km wide) with a lovely little harbor and is only 12 km away from the first sandy beaches.
It is located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Le Petit Chenac on top of a hill, giving you a wonderful view of the mouth of the river, the village of Chenac and the vineyards. former old farmhouse is more than 300 years old. Despite the renovations, many of the authentic walls and beams have remained intact. Due to the thick walls the house stays cool in the summer and warm in winter. The house has a beautiful view of the sunny, enclosed garden and of the charming street of le Petit Chenac. Beside the house is a quiet track giving direct access to the vineyards. On the ground floor is the kitchen with dining area, living room and a toilet. The kitchen is equipped with every comfort, such as a dishwasher, large fridge with freezer and a washing machine. From the spacious kitchen there is direct access to the sunny terrace, with a large garden table and lounging furniture.
The living room has a comfortable sitting area with a well-stocked bookcase and games. On the 1st floor there are 3 bedrooms and a spacious bathroom with toilet. There is a small playground for children with: slide, swing etc.

The sun-drenched Charente-Maritime has something to offer for every holidaymaker. It has a special mix of culture, nature, beautiful sights and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. This region on the Gironde River has a wonderful climate with an average of more than 2600 hours of sunshine per year and is one of the most pleasant in France. Our small holiday complex is an old farm and is located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Le Petit Chenac. It is beautifully situated on top of a hill, giving a spectacular view of the village of Chenac, the gironde estuary and the vineyards. 800 metres from our house there is the small fishing port of Saint-Seurin-D’Uzet, which was once a major producer of caviar, , which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Our garden has several terraces on which you can relax, read or just enjoy nature and the peaceful rural environment. In addition, there is a swimming pool. . Séjour en famille très agréable ! Le gite est très bien équipé et bien pensé; il y a tout ce qu’il faut pour de jeunes enfants (vaisselle, jeux, marche pied, barrière de sécurité..). La maison a été rénovée avec goût. L’extérieur est très sympa également. L’emplacement est idéal pour rayonner dans la région sans faire trop de voiture. Très peu de circulation dans le hameau à part des cyclistes qui empruntent le sentier juste à côté. C’est calme et paisible. Piscine très bien pour que notre fille prenne confiance dans l’eau. Très belle vue sur l’estuaire. Bref, tout était parfait ! Et Ellen et Jean sont très sympathiques. Merci pour le cadeau de bienvenue.

Restaurants, food & wine
During your holiday in the Charente-Maritime you must try the Pineau des Charentes, Cognac and wine at one of the local vineyards. Pineau de Charentes is very popular in France. It is made from Cognac and grape juice; delicious as an aperitif, but it also very good with a dessert.
It is more fun to visit a local producer, than to buy in a supermarket or a souvenir shop and there is more than enough choice nearby. You will see their signs along the road sides, but we can also organise tasting tours for you.

The Charente Maritme has a special mix of culture, nature, beautiful sights and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.
Close by you can visit different wine domains. Taste and enjoy the famous regional products, such as Cognac and Pineau des Charentes. 800 metres from our house there is the small fishing port of Saint-Seurin-D’Uzet, which was once a major producer of caviar. About 5 minutes further on is Talmont-sur-Gironde, again with a small harbour. It is an old fortified village, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. And of course, , you have to visit the Cordouan lighthouse, This lighthouse is located at the mouth of the Gironde estuary and is considered the one of the most beautiful and the oldest lighthouse in France!
There are also plenty of super fun excursions to do with children: Amusement parks, inside and outside, zoo, climbing parks, go-karting, canoeing, sailing, tropical swimming paradise.
One of the many cycling and hiking trails of this region, all of which are clearly marked, runs alongside our house.
At the house there is ample provision to store the (electric) bicycle safely and, if necessary, to recharge.
