Beautiful 1 bedroom cottage near Jonzac

Located just 9 minutes from the historic spa town of Jonzac with its thermal baths, waterpark, casino as well as Cognac tasting and set amongst hundreds of vineyards, this newly renovated cottage offers the perfect holiday stay. Named the XO Gite (XO comes from the Congac term ‘Extra Old’ and is given to the finest of Cognacs) the cottage was built in 1845 and has been home to a clog maker, carpenter and tailor and formed part of a Cognac estate. The cottage has it's own parking and entrance and small garden with terrace and outdoor seating + BBQ. Just a few minutes from Jonzac, part of the “hundred plus” detours of France. Whether you are looking for miles of hiking paths through vineyards and beautiful countryside, want to explore Cognac region and taste the incredible varieties, visit Bordeaux city or wineries (just an hour away), or simply relax in the sunshine, the XO gite has everything you need. The gite is attached to the main residence via a garage, but has it's own entrance and is very private. The gite is located next to a working vineyard. Mid Sept-Oct when the grapes are picked there is a beautiful aroma of Cognac with some noise when the grapes are pressed.

There are many great restuarants close to the XO gite, the nearest just four minutes away, next to an incredible boulangerie. Less than an hour away you have one of France's most beautiful villages, Talmont-sur-Gironde, with it's incredible restaurants, shops and narrow lanes on the seaside. There are many Chateaux to visit, a huge water park in Jonzac, blue lagoons, wineries and Cognac makers. Just 40 minutes to the town of Cognac you have some incredible restaurants and roof top bars. Escape into the woods and meadows by following the numerous hiking trails.
