The house
Les Immortelles, holiday home on the famous island of Ile de Ré is more than a holiday home. It is a maison de charme and has three stars from Charente Tourisme. Its name comes from the yellow straw flowers, immortelles de sable, which you find everywhere on the barren ground behind the dunes, spreading a sweet scent. The house is sheltered from the southwest wind. The house is a five-minute walk from the sea. It stands on a large, wooded plot, and is well maintained. It is located just outside the village of La Noue, municipality of Sainte Marie, on the south side of the island (Les Grenettes).
The house is completely detached. It features a covered terrace, a sun terrace, it has an open pine ceiling, three bedrooms with a total of 5 beds, a bathroom with a bathtub, two showers, two toilets, an open kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, piano, washing machine, a garage, storage and workshop, TV, internet. All floors are tiled with terracotta tiles.
The exterior of the house is white, with shutters and pink Roman roof tiles. The property is completely enclosed by walls and fences, and there is a gate that can be locked. The car can be parked in the driveway.

BEACHES
The amount of sand on the beaches can vary from year to year. Near the house the beaches are a bit rougher and quieter. At Le Gros Jonc or Les Gollandières at Le Bois Plage (not far away) there are wider, more luxurious and busier sandy beaches. These beaches have official praise. In Sainte Marie, nearby, there is a nice beach: Montamer, with a lagoon between the rocky plateaus.
BIKE
The island of Ré is an island for cyclists. There are many cycle paths (about 110 km) on the island.
There are four bicycles in the house. They are not included in the rent, but the tenant may use them at his own risk, including theft. Bicycles can be rented all over the island. Don't forget to bring a lock with key. Lock them properly. Do not ride them on the beach!
LA ROCHELLE
To visit La Rochelle you can go by car, parking is not expensive; you can also take the bus at the stop along the 'big' road, and get off at Place de Verdun. La Rochelle is one of the coolest cities in France.

RESTAURANTS
Ile de Ré is traditionally an island of fishermen. So you can expect all sorts of fish and shellfish in the restaurants. But the meat dishes are also often excellent.
WINE
There are many vineyards on the island. They produce excellent white and red wines, which are reasonably priced. Pineau is also popular.

ILE DE RÉ
The island of Ré is located in the Atlantic Ocean, opposite La Rochelle. It is also called Ré la Blanche, perhaps because all the houses there are white, or because the light is very special. It can be reached by bridge. The island is 30 kilometres long and no wider than 5 kilometres. The island lies on the warm Gulf Stream and has a mild climate. The number of hours of sunshine per year is almost the same as on the Mediterranean Sea.
On the island, there are about ten fishing villages with harbours. On the south side of the island, where the house Les Immortelles is located, there are wide sandy beaches and here and there rocky plateaus. There is partly a falcon coast. There are forests, vineyards and salt marshes. In the villages, there are markets, shops and bistros. The island has a long cultural history, which is proven by the old churches, including the cathedral of St. Martin, the Musée Naval, the fortifications of Vauban, the abbey of the Cistercians from the 12th century near La Flotte and many other attractions.
There is no shortage of leisure possibilities: swimming in the sea from May to September, surfing, diving, sailing, fishing. In summer, there are many concerts and local festivities, sometimes with fireworks. The island of Ré not only has an exceptional climate, but also a friendly and welcoming population. People are more open than on the continent, as the French themselves agree.

In case of rental, the tenant receives a description of the house, which includes the dimensions of the beds and the instructions for use of all elements.
Additional price info and offers
The tourist tax, which must be collected and paid by the landlord, amounts to € 1.65 per person per night.
The tenant is supposed to clean the house properly himself at the end of the rental period. There are no cleaners available on the island during the summer season. Cleaning is relatively easy. The floors consist mainly of terracotta tiles.
