🏡 From village school to dream house
The Ancienne École is a former village school on the highest point of Troche, in the heart of Corrèze - a region known for its unspoilt nature and authentic charm. Here you will discover the France you won't find anywhere else. A place where the days slow down automatically, where you can still really relax and time seems to stand still for a while.
🪵 Two classrooms became one spacious living room
Two old classrooms have been merged into one large, bright living room of no less than 80 m². With a lovely lounge sofa where you can sit comfortably with a large group, while the wood fire burns softly in winter. The living room has a well-equipped island kitchen, there is underfloor heating, a large dining table, a 65-inch HD TV with Apple TV, all Dutch and French channels, and fibre-optic internet (300 Mbps) - ideal also for those who want to work remotely.
🎬 Upstairs: the 'Living Lounge'
On the attic floor (100 m²) is a luxurious relaxation area with: HD projector with surround sound for real movie nights, as well as a playstation, table tennis table, comfortable lounge sofas and air conditioning.
Put the brood in the attic and you won't have to deal with them 😉
🛏️ Sleeping with character
There are four bedrooms, all with comfortable box springs, air conditioning and views of the village or garden. Upon arrival, the beds are made, so the holiday can start immediately. Three bedrooms with double beds of at least 180 wide x 200, and one room with two single beds and a cot.
🛁 Two bathrooms, four toilets
The master bedroom has a private bath area with bathtub, sink and toilet. There is also a second bathroom in the hallway with double shower and a total of four toilets spread throughout the house.
🌳 Outdoor living like out of a French painting
Surrounding the house is a large 1,000 m² garden with old trees and huge boxwood hedges, where silence is almost tangible. In summer, you can enjoy sitting outside on the covered terrace, with a dining table for long evenings dining and a cosy lounge area with comfortable furniture and atmospheric lighting. At night, the garden turns into a little fairy tale, lit by thousands of lights. There is a stone barbecue - perfect for cooking, eating and enjoying with friends under the stars until late.
And for a refreshing dip there is the plunge pool (4.50 × 1.10 m) - small, cool and often the favourite corner of the garden.
🥾 Hiking and exploring
The area is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. From the house you can walk straight into the hills, past meadows, forests and small villages where life is still simple and pure.

The house is located in the middle of the village of Troche, exactly a thousand kilometres from Amsterdam, in the French Corrèze. On the highest hill of the village and surrounding hilly landscape, and right next to the water tower, lies the majestic house with its attractive garden. Because of its exceptionally high location, there are beautiful views in all directions as far as the eye can see.
Just a few steps away, the village has a bakery and a cosy restaurant.
A small bell tower on the roof and the statue of Mary in the facade give it an authentic and fairy-like appearance. The house is not standard, but has all the comforts you want to spend a relaxing time 'away'.

Reviews
Jelle from Eindhoven,
Wij komen zeker eens terug
Joachim Guilliams from Zulte,
Gina from Landsmeer,
Onwijs bedankt Aernoud!
Restaurants, food & wine
Troche has one typical French restaurant at 150 metres walking distance from the house and one (fine) bakery that bakes bread on a wood-fired oven. So it can rightly be called a village.
In beautiful Pompadour (7 km.) and in Lubersac (10 km.) you will find everything in abundance. There are large supermarkets including an Intermarche (Pompadour) and a Super-U and Lidl (Lubersac). There is a petrol station in both villages and several small shops. In Pompadour, for example, there is a picturesque village square with a beautiful castle and cosy cafés. There is also an excellent caterer there, for the countless culinary delights the area has to offer (rillettes, truffles, andouilettes, tripes, foie-gras etc.). So with a car on the doorstep, everything is within easy reach.

Further remarks
The house is a former Catholic girls' school. It also housed a small chapel. For decades, girls from the area were taught there, under the inspiring guidance of three nuns who themselves lived on the first floor. The latter took place until the late 1980s. When the last nun left the building, it came 'on the market'. The toilets at the back of the garden immediately recall the atmosphere of yesteryear.
