The house
A unique opportunity to stay in an authentic miller's house!
The cottage can be rented for 5 to 6 people throughout the year! Fully equipped with kitchen and bathroom. On the ground floor you will find a kitchen, equipped with 4-burner cooker, fridge, kitchen utensils, table, 4 chairs, high chair and toddler's chair. The living area has a pleasant sofa and comfortable chairs, great for relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms; all equipped with wonderfully comfortable beds with new mattresses, one with a double bed, bedside table and wardrobe, the other (1.85m high) has a double bed, one single bed and a cot. Furthermore, a fully equipped bathroom; shower, sink and bathtub! The toilet is separate.
All rooms have electric heaters. And an air conditioning system! 6th person sleeps in a cot.
If you stay in this gîte you can of course participate in all activities in and around the Moulin des Jarasses campsite, including use of the swimming pool, playground, petting zoo, petanque, etc. during the months that the campsite is also open. You can book the gîte all year round, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the peace and quiet, write a book or just read -:)
2 lovely heated swimming pools, always 27graden, fun guaranteed!
We have one heated paddling pool for toddlers measuring 3 by 3 metres and 40 cm deep, and one heated pool measuring 5 by 14 metres where everyone with a swimming certificate can swim laps! Both pools have benches allowing parents with children to enjoy the pools together in a relaxed and safe way.
The small shallow pebbly streams behind the house can also be used for paddling, building dams and catching crayfish!
If you want to enjoy your privacy, there is a private terrace at the back and front with benches and a long table.
Moulin des Jarasses is a guest house with various accommodation options, several safari tents de luxe, round safari tents both on the field and in the forest. There are also possibilities for camping with your own tent, caravan or motorhome.
Puy de Sancy; a wonderful, beautiful and fantastic ski area nearby! The pistes open from mid-December!
If you want to join us in the evening for the Table d'hôte, this is possible every evening during the season. During the other months, please inquire about the possibilities!

La douce France at Moulin des Jarasses.
In the heart of France in the Limousin, Moulin des Jarasses is a rediscovered gem for bon vivants looking for peace, space and the real France. Guesthouse "Moulin des Jarasses" consists of an area of no less than 8.5 hectares, with two watermills of about 200 years old, an authentic miller's house and a granary that has been converted into a common room. The little river La Noisette runs through the grounds. The grounds, which until a few years ago were used as a "Colonie des Vacances" for Parisian schoolchildren, have now been transformed into a special holiday residence where you will always stay in peace and quiet and in the style of the country.
As soon as you enter the driveway of Moulin des Jarasses, you automatically slow down a bit. You immediately understand the unconditional love for France of the Dutch owners Judith and Andries who immediately welcome you warmly.
"Moulin des Jarasses" is located in the middle of France, about eight hours drive from Utrecht. The village is called Le Compas and is situated in the scenic landscape of the Limousin region in the Creuse department. This is a clean and unspoiled part of France, where you will find many forests, lakes and picturesque villages. Here, you can hike and cycle for hours without meeting anyone, but also go paragliding, canoeing, fishing and many other activities. Of course, you can also just do nothing and enjoy the green heart of France.
About the area
The department of Creuse (23) is part of the province of Limousin, as well as the neighbouring departments of Haute-Vienne (87) and Corrèze (19). The name Creuse comes from the French word "creux", which means hollow or deep. This refers to the Creuse River, which rises on the Plateau de Millevaches and winds through a series of rocky gorges. The Creuse has 130,000 inhabitants and is France's least populated region. There is no industry. It is the French countryside, with small-scale farming (Limousin beef), sleepy villages and bustling towns.
Abbeys, parks, gardens, landscape art, Aubusson tapestry, castles, historic buildings; the Creuse has a lot of history, as evidenced by the many Roman settlements and remains from even before that time!
Nearby are the small towns of Auzances and Montluçon. Here you can go for your daily shopping, take a terrace and enjoy the surroundings and what the French countryside has to offer.

From Tuesday to Saturday it is possible to participate in our Table d'hôte service. The French call it "plat-du-jour", menu of the day, which we will carry out in a modern way on the basis of international and French cuisine and/or your wishes (preferences, vegatarian).
We will use as much as possible products from our own vegetable garden, the season and the environment.
The dinner consists of a three-course menu and costs €22.50.
The Thursday evening is dedicated to the regional dishes, on this evening we will offer a 'Diner Delicieux Creusois'; a 5 course dinner! a € 25.00
Children adjusted rate. (0-2 years FREE, 3-4 years €5.00 and 5-14 years €10.00)
On Sunday there will be a joint barbecue. Young and old share the table together, everyone is welcome!
And on Monday you can always use the small menu, cheese board or a delicious meat board (charcuterie), a sandwich or another delicious sandwich.
Every day you can order freshly baked bread, there is a list at the reception where you can easily make your choice on.

Upon arrival you will receive an overview of all local restaurants and auberges in this area. There are many possibilities with the most delicious menus or what is offered that day; plat-du-jour.

Several fixed markets in the nearby villages for the nicest brocantees and local products. (You will find an overview in the gite)
Aubusson is 20 km away and is a beautiful medieval city, known in history for its world famous carpets. Aubusson is situated in the valley of the River Creuse. The city still has many architectural features from the Middle Ages including turrets, arched windows and doors. The Maison du Tapissier houses permanent and temporary exhibitions, which tell the history of tapestry. Also worth visiting are the Vieux Tapissier; a 15th century house with weaving workshops and tapestry demonstrations, the 13th century church of Sainte Croix, the clock tower, and the old bridge La Terrade. Modern Aubusson has restaurants, museums, theatre, sports, cinema and shops.
Limoges, the capital of Limousin, is famous for its beautiful porcelain. The city has a long history, even from the time of the Gallo-Romans. There are many museums, places of cultural interest as well as markets, shops and restaurants here. Visit the old town, the cathedral, the museums, the aquarium and the botanical gardens, or the shop with the beautiful local porcelain.
Puy-de-Dôme, Only a few thousand years old, the 66 volcanoes that are named after the largest, the Puy de Dôme, are geologically very young. The chain of volcanoes forms an incomparable open-air museum of volcanism. This exceptional landscape, whose rural character reveals the proximity of underground volcanic fire, offers the visitor a chain of domes or puys that make him feel a moment at creation.
Le Mont-dore, lies at the foot of the highest mountain of the Massif Central, the Puy de Sancy with its summit at 1886 metres. Steep and flat slopes alternate here. Mont-Dore was one of the first classified winter sports resorts, where you can do skiing, cross-country skiing and a fun park for snowboarders. Now, this rustic mountain village is the perfect destination for an active family holiday. In spring, summer and autumn, you can go hiking and/or cycling and from mid-December, the slopes open! The small village has much to offer, you can eat here fantastic, as a tip we recommend Cafe Paris!

Introduction
We are Andries & Judith. We both saw a future where we could enjoy each other's company, nature and freedom. A place where our creativity, personality and qualities would be at their best! After a few evenings with a good glass of wine, the ideas arose to create a unique guesthouse where guests can enjoy unforgettable nights in a special environment. We want to give our guests a unique experience.
The choice of the province of Limousin was easily made, as it stands for the 'Green Heart' of France. The idea to open our guesthouse in the department of the Creuse was simply because this region offers the most and the best of the four seasons. A cold winter, a pleasant spring, a wonderful summer and a beautiful autumn. This allows us and our guests to enjoy a wide range of activities. And, of course, in every season there is something for everyone ...

De gite is ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. De tweede week verbleven we in de safaritent. Echt een aanrader!!! Onze kinderen vonden deze vakantie geweldig!

Prachtige plek, mooi groen en rustig. Mooie omgeving. Het huis is ruim, van alle gemakken voorzien en is goed schoon. Niet onbelangrijk: het heeft een goed bed. Wij verbleven er met 2 kleine kinderen die heerlijk vrij konden spelen. De beheerders zijn gastvrij, makkelijk en erg leuk. Wij kunnen deze plek iedereen aanraden!

Nette gite met alles wat wij nodig hebben, zelfs extra's zoals een houtkachel en bad. Ook het aanschuiven bij het avondeten is erg gezellig!
