BOUSSAC
Boussac is a small town 8 kilometres away. Perched on its rocky promontory high above the Petite Creuse valley, the magnificent chateau of Boussac, built in the 12th century and badly damaged during the Hundred Years War, was rebuilt in the 15th century by Jean de Brosse, companion of Joan of Arc. In the 19th century, this romantic place inspired the writer George Sand, who stayed there regularly and wrote her novel "Jeanne". Today, you can discover the waiting room, George Sand's room, as well as the furniture, antique woodwork and tapestries during a visit.
The famous goblin tapestries "The Lady and the Unicorn" come from here and were declared Unesco World Heritage in 2009.
Every Thursday morning, there is a large regional market where the many local products are offered.

TOULX SAINTE CROIX
The chapel of Saint Martin. Where Toulx-Sainte-Croix is now, there was a settlement of Tullum in Gallo-Roman times. It is suspected that a Gallo-Roman sanctuary once stood where the ruined Saint Martin's chapel is today. The Romanesque church is one of the oldest in the Creuse. The granite sanctuary has sculpted lion figures and limestone sarcophagi from the Merovingian period (450-750).
From the watchtower, you have a splendid view of the surrounding meadows. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the 7 departments of the Berry and the Auvergne, and even the Puy de Dome.

On the mountain Barlot are les Pierres Jaumaitres. These enchanting granite colossi seem to have been put there by someone. There are many wild stories about who that might have been. Some talk about giants and others about witches, druids and fairies. Each rock also has its own name, such as the seesaw, the frog, sugar loafers, the chapel and the devil's cradle.
The moss-covered stone walls and the chestnut forest create a mystical atmosphere.
In the adjacent tree climbing park, you can climb various courses or play laser games. Afterwards, you can enjoy a well-deserved drink on the restaurant terrace.

Other towns worth visiting in the neighbourhood are, MONTLUCON, GOUZON, AUBUSSON, LE CHATRE, EVAUX LES BAINS, GUERET, AHUN, LIMBOGES, ORADOUR SUR GLANE and many others.

France is of course the Mecca of wines. You can go to the many caves but also the local supermarkets have an excellent selection of the most delicious wines for every purse.
Once upon a time there were vineyards near SOUMANS but the quality was not very good. And they have given way to agriculture and cattle breeding.

The Limousin is of course famous for its cattle, especially the reddish-brown Limousin cows, but the best are the white Charolais cows that graze outside all year round. This gives the meat a deep red colour and an excellent taste.
Dutch steak is not known here, but a faux filet is a good substitute.
An absolute must is the Fondue Creusoise. These are small bites with melted camembert on top or next to it for dipping.
Chalet Les Pierres Jaumaitres, Bonne Auberge, Central Boussac are recommended in the vicinity.

But you can also join us for a delicious dinner prepared with fresh local produce. Order a picnic basket for a delicious (romantic) lunch on the road. You can also use our breakfast service on your own terrace.

On our farm we have many animals, including horses, pigs, dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits. Our chickens scratch around freely in and around the yard for their food and lay the most delicious eggs. Because of the many animals, your dog is very welcome but on a leash in and around the yard.
