The house
The 2nd floor of the chateau Sourliavoux is rented out as a flat.
The flat on the 2nd floor consists of a very spacious living room, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a dressing room, a separate toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen has recently been realised and the 2nd bathroom is currently under construction. The 3rd bedroom with adjoining bathroom and a separate toilet is on the 1st floor. The floors are connected by a beautiful 'lazy' staircase.
You have the entire 2nd floor of the chateau at your disposal (even if you come with max 2 persons or max 4 persons) and that also applies to all terraces around the chateau and the park. From the apartment you have great views over the park of the chateau and the hilly landscape with meandering stream.
You have a fully equipped kitchen but if you wish, breakfast can be prepared for you in the dining room of the chateau (extra charge euro 15,- per person per breakfast).
The flat can accommodate up to 6 people. If you come with a maximum of 4 persons (or 2 bedrooms) or with a maximum of 2 persons (or 1 bedroom) a lower rate applies (see rates).
Breakfast is optional. Prices do not include breakfast in the chateau's dining room.
You can also choose to prepare your own breakfast in your flat on the 2nd floor, you have a fully equipped kitchen.

Chateau Sourliavoux is located in a rural setting with a beautiful hilly landscape. Grassy fields with grazing Limousine cows, interspersed with forest and many lakes and babbling brooks.
Rural, but not remote. The village of Vallière is within 2 kilometres, the town of Aubusson 15 km. There are many historical sites in the area.
Chateau Sourliavoux has its own private lake, for fishing, swimming or just enjoying nature.
Lac de Vasivière, the largest inland lake in Europe, is 18 km away. The lake has its own beach and numerous water sports possibilities. In addition, it is a beautiful hiking area.

Nous avons séjourné chez Hieke pour le passage à la nouvelle année, ce séjour fut très confortable (la literie est de très bonne qualité, l’hôte est très à l’écoute et disponible au moindres questions et attention) & très agréable ( château en très belle état, chambres bien décoré, salon et cuisine bien équipé).

Wij (gezin 4 pers.) zijn bijna een week te gast geweest op Chateau Sourliavoux bij gastvrouw Hieke. We hadden daar de gehele bovenste verdieping van het Chateau tot onze beschikking met een gezellige, goed uitgeruste keuken, een woonkamer, twee slaapkamers en kleedkamer, grote badkamer en een extra toilet. Het Chateau van 1870 ligt prachtig tussen nog oudere bomen, waaronder twee reuzensequoia’s, in het Franse departement Creuse. Dichtbij Aubusson en Lac de Vassivière en op redelijke afstand Limoges, en Clermont-Ferrand. Je kunt heerlijk fietsen, wandelen en evt watersporten/zonnen in/bij het Lac. Gastvrouw Hieke regelde op verzoek een heerlijk ontbijt. We hadden kraakheldere nachten met een ongekende sterrenhemel (voor de liefhebbers: de Melkweg is er zichtbaar van horizon tot horizon). Ons verblijf was top en we komen graag terug!

Activities
The chateau Sourliavoux is located 2 km from the village of Vallière. In Vallière, everything is available for basic living: a butcher, a bakery - both of exceptionally good quality -, a greengrocer and a small supermarket. The town of Aubusson is 15 km away. Aubusson has numerous cafés and restaurants, shops selling local produce as well as large supermarkets. Culturally, there is plenty to do in Aubusson and the surrounding area. Aubusson is the capital of the tapestry industry; the new tapestry museum was recently opened there. The Vallière / Sourliavoux area is particularly suitable for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding and fishing. And you can also fish in the private lake of chateau Sourliavoux!
