Our village of Vasles, is situated 17 km south-east and 20 minutes from Parthenay, which is a historical town perched over a river and also provides large supermarkets, a hospital and summer festivals.
Vasles is also 30 minutes west of Poitiers, and 1.30 hours east from La Rochelle.

Activities

There is a very popular golf course 4kms from us, Golf Bluegreen , Domaine Des Forges, which has a clubhouse and restaurant/bar.
Plenty of opportunities for hikes in the surrounding countryside or if you prefer, more gentle walks directly from our house along the chemins between the fields.
In Vasles there is a sheep theme park (not rides!) called Mouton Village.
There are several swimming lakes in the region including our favourite called Lac de Verruyes, which is 24 kms away and 24 minutes drive from us. It costs 2 euros to access the supervised sandy beach and has a restaurant/snack bar.
If you prefer to fish, there are lots of fishing lakes which you can book a day catching fish and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Our local village bar/restaurant, Le Zinc, is only a 4 minute walk from the house. They serve food and in the summer often have special events at the weekend such as a Dj or band or kareoke.
