Welcome to Les Glycines Gîtes
Your exclusive holiday domain for groups of up to 17 people!
Are you looking for the perfect place for an unforgettable holiday with the whole family, a group of friends or a retreat? Les Glycines Gîtes is an idyllic place in the heart of the Deux-Sèvres that offers peace, space and comfort. Our three gîtes are rented out together as one large holiday home, allowing you to enjoy the luxury of your own private domain with breathtaking views over forests and countryside.
Why choose Les Glycines as a group accommodation?
Together yet private: With a total of 3 gîtes, you have several kitchens, living rooms and bathrooms. Ideal for getting together, but also for retreating. The kitchen and living area of the middle and largest gîte can accommodate 17 people.
Relaxation for all: a large, secure swimming pool on a sunny terrace, a flowery garden for the children and a wooded valley full of wildlife to discover.
Endless fun: a large playing field for football, boules or croquet. For the little ones, all baby facilities are double and free.
Total relaxation: Includes free Wi-Fi and a warm welcome. In the summer months, the local baker delivers fresh bread and croissants directly to your door.
Space & layout
The property comfortably accommodates 17 people. The characteristic buildings are named after the beautiful wisteria (Glycines) that adorn the walls.
The Large Gîte (8+ people): A generous central area with a 34 m² living room, wood-burning stoves for cosy evenings and four spacious bedrooms spread over two wings for maximum privacy.
Additional Bedrooms: The other gîtes are furnished with equal care, featuring authentic oak beams, antique French beds with new and modern mattresses and private bathrooms.
Outdoor living on a grand scale: Enjoy communal meals at the long tables on your private terraces, complete with barbecues and atmospheric sitting areas.

Despite the tranquillity of the valley, the world is at your feet:

The large communal pool (9m x 4.6m and 1.2m deep - open between May and October) lies in a glorious sheltered sun trap, and is surrounded by a spacious sun terrace and securely enclosed. There are sunbeds, chairs and umbrellas for relaxing and sunbathing after a refreshing dip, but there is also a paddling pool for the little ones.
The quiet area is surrounded by woodland. We have 2 adult bicycles available, which you can also bring your own or rent on site.
In our large, well-equipped playing field, you can enjoy football, table tennis and badminton. A boules court is adjacent to the swimming pool, there is a selection of outdoor games and there is a Croquet lawn next to the vegetable garden. There is an abundance of local wildlife including buzzards, woodpeckers, red squirrels, lizards and masses of butterflies and ladybirds attracted by our wildflower garden and fledgling food forest. After all, we are striving for the Garden of Eden.
Plenty of safe space for guests to be active and relax.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are a number of good restaurants with all kinds of different cuisines. We are happy to advise and make reservations for you. There is also a list of local supermarkets and shops. This region is famous for its goat cheese, apple juice, mussels, poultry, beef, eel, and of course the melons of the Charente.
Regional wines: the crisp whites of the Loire and Haute Poitou, and the local Vendee Pisotte. Bubble wines include Vouvray and Saumur, dry or semi-sweet. Red wines range from the lighter Loire wines to the classic Bordeaux. The local aperitif is Pineau des Charentes, a strong drink made from grape juice and cognac, drunk cold.
Activities
An hour and 15 minutes' drive away are the beautiful beaches and picturesque La Rochelle, where there are museums, shops and restaurants. The Ile de Re has 90 km of cycling paths, and you can even encounter donkeys. We are a short drive from the two top amusement parks here, the Futuroscope in Poitiers, with all kinds of interactive rides and attractions, and the Puy du Fou, favourite of all our guests, with spectacular outdoor shows and replica villages. The Marais Poitevin is a fascinating area of meadows and marshes - hire a boat there and spend a day cruising the meandering streams. There are also hiking and cycling trails. Locally, there are several water parks, with swimming lakes, beaches, slides and other water activities. Pescalis, a fishing lake, is just a 10-minute drive away - you can fish for carp up to 25 kg. Just 10 minutes away is the 'Adventure Forest' and a go-kart track (very popular with our visitors). North of l'Absie is the Rocher Branlant - the rock that moves slightly when pushed. Parthenay, Niort and Poitiers are bustling towns with a medieval past. There are great walks at the village of Vouvant and nearby Mervent has a small zoo. There is a Chateau in Coulonges sur l'Autize, and the Chateau en Jardin Medieval de la Guyonniere is near Parthenay. A nice day trip can be made to the Chateau in Saumur and the Loire Valley.
Very close by is some excellent walking and cycling, for which we have detailed maps. We also advise on local festivals, markets, 'vide greniers' and special events.
