The house
Holiday home Pantouze Pouchou is located against a hill overlooking the valley. The silence is indescribable and is best translated by the French saying "le bruit du silence".
PANTOUZE
Pantouze is an old tobacco barn converted into a modern, yet entirely in keeping with the style, single-storey loft.
In an open space of some 50 square metres is a bedroom separated by a low wall from the living room with open kitchen.
The bedroom has a double bed that can be partitioned and, if you want, made up as two separate beds.
From the bedroom, a sliding door leads to a separate room with a spacious, modern walk-in shower and toilet.
In the living room with open kitchen is an easy-to-use pellet (wood) stove, making it a lovely place to be even during winter.
The kitchen is fully equipped: dishwasher, oven, etc.
Through a large, sliding glass door you have access to a private terrace with barbecue and enchanting views over the valley.
Upon arrival, the bed is made!
At the front of Pantouze, it looks like the house is on a floor. However, via the outside door, which is at the back, you have direct access to the house. This is because Pantouze is built against a hill.
At the edge of the valley lies the swimming pool. A lovely place where you can enjoy a good book and a dip in the water. You feel like a god in France. Besides the other guests, we, the residents of Pouchou, also use the swimming pool every now and then.
Further on, in a quiet spot in the woods, there is a plateau you can use for yoga or meditation. To unwind, this is the place to be.

Pouchou is the name of the domain on which the holiday house Pantouze is located.
It belongs to the village of Besse, which has 160 inhabitants.
Besse has a beautiful church from 1200 that is worth a visit.
Both in Cazals and in Villefranche du Perigord you can do your daily shopping.

In alle opzichten een verrassend weekje Pouchou.
Het was even wennen aan de overweldigende stilte, maar het blijkt weldadig voor alle zintuigen. Genoten van de natuur en de ruimte, de fraaie franse dorpjes, de schoonheid van een aantal prachtig oude kerkjes en de schoonheid in moderne ateliers, zoals Monpazier. Henriëtte & Gerry, bedankt voor een aantal onvergetelijke dagen en jullie gezelschap bij enkele verrassende uitjes. Ik denk geregeld met genoegen terug. Net terug van een heerlijke week vertoeven in de Pantouze. Ondanks Corona besloten om op vakantie te gaan.
Echter in het huis en omgeving heerst zoveel ruimte en rust dat afstand houden hier niet moeilijk is.
Vertoeven in de Pantouze alleen is al een feestje. Het appartement is heel ruimtelijk ingericht met alle comfort. Daarnaast het prachtige uitzicht. Vanuit je ontbijt de reeën spotten!
In de omgeving zijn genoeg mogelijkheden, o.a. wandelen, kanoën op de Dordogne, dorpjes bezoeken.
We komen zeker nogmaals terug!Vijfhuize from Huizen,
Rust, rust en nog eens rust. Je moet er gewoon in het begin aan wennen!
Pantouze is met smaak ingericht , gelukkig nog wel met de oude elementen. Alles was aanwezig, en niet onbelangrijk :een heerlijk bed!
Wij zijn in de week dat we hier verbleven echt tot rust gekomen! Harriet en Gerrie zijn gastvrij en hebben leuke tips om de omgeving te ontdekken. Het zwembad was heerlijk, zeker omdat de temperatuur tussen de 30-35 graden was in de week van ons verblijf.
Restaurants, food & wine
In the months of July and August, it is possible to visit a 'marché gourmande' or a 'marché des producteurs' in various towns in the area. In Besse this is every Friday evening. For the true lover of the food of this region, this is worthwhile: you can put together your own food from the region that is offered from different stalls, a true experience. The Perigord Noir is a rich area when it comes to food. It is particularly well known for its nuts, chestnuts, truffles, cèpes (mushrooms), honey-tasting strawberries, and duck dishes such as Magret de Canard and Confit de Canard.
And, of course, this region is not lacking in "good" wine. Pouchou is situated exactly between the much-praised Bergerac wine and the Cahors wine that has been gaining respect in recent years. The first wineries you can go and taste on location are already about twenty minutes away (the Cahors wines). For the Bergerac wines, you have to reckon on about three quarters of an hour's drive.

Activities
A stay in Pantouze is attractive for those who love nature, tranquillity, hiking and visiting picturesque villages and markets. Around Besse you can visit numerous characteristic villages where you cannot help but suspect that Anton Pieck got his inspiration here. The characteristic villages and towns such as Monpazier, Sarlat, Belves and Domme, to name a few, are definitely recommended. Or what about the prehistoric caves with ancient wall drawings and beautiful stalactites. Art lovers should definitely visit the museum of the famous artist Zadkin in the town of Les Arques, not far from here. The castles in the area are also worth a visit. Furthermore, for hikers, there are beautiful hiking trails that are well marked and marked. And last, not least: Pouchou is located exactly between the two big rivers Dordogne and Lot, where you can see the country from a different perspective from a canoe.

On the grounds of Pouchou, there is a plateau in the forest area for yoga and meditation. In a place where silence embraces you.
You may use this yourself, but it is also possible to do this together with Harriët who can provide guidance. Harriët has her own programme consisting of a meditative form of yoga using exercises from Yin and Hatha yoga. The yoga concludes with a meditation based on Vipassana meditation (the founder of mindfulness). Only yoga or only meditation is also possible.

You can also come and fly: Transavia flies from Rotterdam to Bergerac on Saturdays. You can rent cars at the airport in Bergerac. Bergerac is just under an hour's drive from Pouchou.
