The house
Dordogne - Périgord noir: at a short distance from towns like Domme, La Roque-Gageac and not far from Sarlat and Bergerac, this 2-storeyed holiday house with beautiful swimming pool (8.5mtr x 4.5mtr) with pool alarm is situated on a beautiful leafy plot of almost half a hectare of land not far from the river Dordogne.
Layout on the ground floor (rez-de-jardin) a fully equipped kitchen, a living-dining room (approx. 30 m²) with fireplace and garden doors to the terrace, 2 bedrooms of 10 m² each with a double bed (1x 200x160cm - 1x 200x140cm, can be split into 2x single beds), a bathroom with large rain shower and toilet.
On the floor below (rez-de-chaussee) is a living room (approx. 17 m²) with direct access to the garden, a kitchenette with washing machine (6 m²), 2 bedrooms (of 15 m² and 9 m²) each with a double bed (1x 200x160cm - 1x 200x140cm, can be separated into 2x single beds if necessary), a small bathroom and a separate toilet. The fact that the house is on two levels means that our house can also be used by two families or that, for example, 2-4 people live in the (upper) house, with all the comforts that implies.

Our holiday home is located in Cénac-et-Saint-Julien in the Mombette district (Perigord-noir). It is quiet and has a large garden and a nice swimming pool. There are four bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. From the village you turn left, just before the church, and enter the beautiful neighbourhood of ' Mombette'. That road runs slightly uphill through the forest.
Our village has a great bakery, several restaurants, a supermarket, drugstore and cafes etc. Every Tuesday there is a nice market with local products on the square opposite the bakery. Cénac is a 5-minute drive from the beautiful medieval town of Domme and le Roque-Gagneac. Sarlat, a beautiful medieval town is 15-20 car minutes from Cénac. This is only a small part of the beautiful sights in the area. Visit the beautiful castles (Castelnaud, Beynac , Les Milandes etc.), les Jardins de Marqueyssac, les Jardins d'eau and the caves of Les Eyzies. You can enjoy hiking, cycling, horse riding, ballooning and of course canoeing on the Dordogne in the area. Too many to mention. The river Dordogne with its little beaches runs through the village and is at walking distance from our house. (about 15 minutes' walk). A lovely walk, but down the hill and up again OP.

Schitterend en romantisch huis met grote tuin en zwembad, schoon en prima bedden en van alle gemakken voorzien. Mooie omgeving en voldoende bezienswaardigheden en te doen. Wij bevelen dit zeker aan!Jolanda Van Esch from Vlaardingen,
Joie de Vivre is een heerlijk vakantiehuis met een grote omheinde tuin, wat echt heel fijn was voor de honden, met een heerlijk zwembad. Het ligt lekker rustig, maar met een heerlijke bakker (echt een feestje om daar naar toe te gaan) supermarkt en ook nog een biologische supermarkt, slager en een aantal restaurantjes op loopafstand. Je moet wel een stevige heuvel af en weer op lopen, maar het is te doen. Het huis is echt compleet met genoeg servies, pannen, glazen maar ook een melkopschuimer en mixer, spelletjes , boeken, tijdschriften etc. Echt alles is aanwezig, helemaal top! We waren met 2 bevriende stellen en we hadden allebei ons eigen appartement met eigen ingang, erg prettig. Goede douches en voldoende ruimte. Wij hebben ondanks het wisselvallige weer erg genoten. Het huis ligt is een mooie omgeving met leuke dorpjes en Sarlat binnen 15 minuten met de auto. Liesbeth reageert heel snel als je vragen hebt en heeft leuke tips. Kortom Joie de Vivre is een aanrader.

Ideaal vakantiehuisje in het prachtige Dordogne!
De grootste troeven volgens ons:
- de rust
- het zwembad en tuin
- indeling van het huisje
- communicatie van / met Liesbeth
- de omgevingPuntjes die kunnen verbeteren:
- het vele onkruid op de oprit
- communicatie van de personen ter plaatseSamen met een bevriend koppel (en 2 kindjes van 2 jaar) verbleven we een weekje (véél te kort) in deze leuke gite. We hadden uitstekend weer! Het was er tussen de 27 en 33 graden en binnen bleef het goed koel. Op de warmste dagen was het boven wat warmer, maar er zijn tal van ventilatoren (én muggenramen!!) om het terug te doen afkoelen. De oprit was weinig uitnodigend maar al de rest was super!
Wij, als gezin, hadden de hele beneden verdieping en onze vrienden hadden de bovenverdieping. Super handig! De bedden waar zalig en de badkamers waren misschien wat aan de kleine kant, maar meer dan goed. (Regendouche was ook een pluspunt!).
In de keuken was ook alles aanwezig. Wat een geweldig fornuis ook! De extra zaken zoals het wierookpotje en nespresso apparaat zijn details die wij zeker konden apprecieren. Bij de aankomst stond er ook een flesje witte wijn! Heel attent!
Op het terras was het zalig vertoeven dankzij de zonneluifel. Veel muggen en vliegen wel maar met behulp van citronella wierook stokjes & kaarsjes viel dit ook wel goed mee.
We hebben ontzettend genoten van het zwembad. Hier en daar was blijkbaar wat ducktape geplakt om gaatjes te verbergen (waarschijnlijk in afwachting van een toekomstige opknapbeurt).
De volgende bezoekjes / activiteiten zijn zeker de moeite waard:
- Gabares Norbert (tochtje van 50 minuten op de dordogne)
- Gouffre de Proumeyssac (mooie grot met een rondleiding van 60 minuten. De audiogidsen werkten wel niet)
- Zoological Reserve Calviac (mooie dieren reserve in een natuurlijke omgeving)
- Chateau des Milandes (leuke vogelshow en mooie toneeltjes tijdens ons bezoek)
- Stedenbezoeken zoals: Sarlat (prachtige binnenstad), Domme (super gezellig dorpje), La Roque-Gageac (pitteroske dorpje tegen de rotswand)Alle voorziening zijn ook aanwezig in het dorpje zelf!
Liesbeth was echt een droom gastvrouw om mee te communiceren. Geruststellend, proactief en super vriendelijk!
Graag komen we nog eens terug!

Beste Jan,
Hartelijk dank voor jullie positieve recensie en de tips ter verbetering. Wat betreft de liner van het zwembad: die staat inderdaad op het lijstje om na dit seizoen vervangen te worden.
We gaan met onze tuinman overleggen wat we aan het onkruid op de oprit kunnen doen. We willen liever niet spuiten met chemische middelen, maar er is vast een andere oplossing te vinden.Bedankt ook voor tips voor de uitjes in de omgeving!

There are many restaurants in the area, where you can eat delicious food.
Activities
The area boasts many castles, caves and very worthwhile villages. The Dordogne River offers numerous leisure activities such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, golf and, of course, building dams to try to change the course of the river. Balloon rides can also be taken, sailing over the beautiful surroundings and waters of the Dordogne. In the surrounding area, there is plenty of walking and cycling, and fun hills can be conquered on a racing bike. Nearby are beautiful medieval towns worth seeing, such as Domme, Sarlat and Bergerac (also known for its delicious wines). Markets are held regularly in Cénac-de-st-Julien as well as in the other surrounding towns, markets with local products as well as the famous brocantes where there is still plenty to discover.
