Karen & Rob welcome you to Le Banquet, their charming, 200 year old ensemble of three luxury 4 star Perigordine houses nestling deep in the Vezere valley.
In the most popular part of the Dordogne and on the edge of the world famous village of Les Eyzies these charming homes at Le Banquet sleeping 6, 5 and 4 have been lovingly restored preserving their character. Recently awarded 4 STARS by the Comité Départemental Du Tourisme De La Dordogne and voted 'Best family self-catering holiday in France' by The Gaurdian UK national newspaper.
LE TOURNESOL AT LE BANQUET - this pretty gite sits ‘tucked away’ just below the courtyard with it’s own walled terrace with BBQ and outside furniture.
Located on one level, the stunning open plan living and dining room are tastefully decorated & comfortably furnished, a wonderful room in which to sit & relax. The French doors lead onto the terrace for outside living.
The spotless modern kitchen has exposed stonework and beams and is equipped with all modern conveniences including a Nespresso coffee-machine, microwave, toaster, kettle, cooker, fridge, dishwasher and everything you could possibly need to prepare your meals – a real home from home.
Provided for you are starter coffee pods, tea, sugar, spice rack full of different spices, salt & pepper, olive oil, vinegar, foil, cling film, freezer bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, all cleaning materials etc.
A dining table seats 4 and being open plan, you can drink and chat whilst dinner is being prepared.
In the living room you will find plenty of seating, coffee-tables, library of books, DVD player, UK satellite flat screen TV, making it a great family room.
Two pretty beamed bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds are all on the ground floor level both with views to the river and beautiful gardens. There is also a fully tiled modern shower room.

Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of Perigord has been described by some as paradise. As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs you begin to understand why!
The region surrounding Le Banquet is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. In Les Eyzies alone there are 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Font de Gaume caves being just 5 minutes walk away.
Whether you wish to visit the local caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, the many wonderful open gardens, the stunning chateaux, picnic by the banks of the Vezere river, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac, Cahors and surround, Le Banquet is at the very heart of it all.
You are only a short drive from adventures in every direction, Lascaux caves, Castlenaud & Beynac castles, Chateau des Milandes, Vezere & Dordogne rivers, medieval town of Sarlat, roman town of Perigueux to name but a few. The department of the Dordogne is home to no less than 10 of the officially listed pretiest villages in France.
There is plenty for children of all ages to do and see including canoeing, horse riding, visiting castles and caves, air parks, go carting, water and leisure parks, mini golf, aquarium – the list is endless!

In één woord geweldig. Het huisje is gelegen aan een kabbelend riviertje waar je heerlijk aan kunt vertoeven. Er staan tuinstoelen en een tafeltje en met een flesje wijn en een kaasje heb je eigenlijk verder niets nodig. Dat ís er echter wel. Het huisje is super schoon en werkelijk van alle gemakken voorzien. De keuken is zeer compleet uitgerust en aan werkelijk alles is gedacht. Het woongedeelte is heel gezellig ingericht en de overige ruimtes zoals slaapkamers en badkamer zijn ook hartstikke leuk ingericht en ook weer super schoon.
Karen & Rob zijn echt heel erg betrokken en laten je bij aankomst het hele terrein zien. Ze staan ieder gewenst moment voor je klaar om waar nodig je te helpen en om het je simpelweg zo goed mogelijk naar je zin te maken én er stond ook nog een heerlijk flesje Rosé klaar. Tenslotte is Le Tournesol een prima uitvalsbasis om de prachtige omgeving te verkennen.
Kortom, een geweldig verblijf en wij gaan zeker nog een keer terug.
Restaurants, food & wine
The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer. If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Ceps, truffles and Foie Gras are all readily available as are the freshest vegetables, herbs, meat, poultry and game. Simply visit one of the many local markets to stock up on good things to prepare back in your cottage kitchen.
If you prefer to eat out, our village of Les Eyzies has more than 12 restaurants offering fine dining to pizza and pasta. The surrounding area also has many excellent eateries including Michelin starred restaurants. Le Banquet is just a short drive to the wonderful vineyards in Bergerac, there is a local company that we can put you in touch with that provides tours.
Activities
Canoes and kayaks are available to hire along the banks of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Being wide and generally shallow, both rivers can be enjoyed whether you are a beginner or a skilled amateur and there is no better way to appreciate the stunning Dordogne scenery.
Runners and joggers are spoilt for choice with beautiful local runs both trail and road.
For golfers there are good courses in the area. The course at Le Bugue is 18 holes and is just 15 kilometres from Le Banquet.
Tennis lovers can use the local municipal courts in Les Eyzies.
Increasingly popular is bike hire. We are happy to recommend companes that will deliver bikes directly to you here at Le Banquet.
If you are an angler, there are plentiful rivers and lakes in which to fish. From Chub to Carp almost all types of fish can be caught, indeed the pretty river which runs through Le Banquet contains Trout and Roach.
On site – the games and information room is equipped with table tennis, table football, pool, darts etc.
If you are not feeling too active then why not wander through the grounds or relax and read a book next to the swimming pool or the river at Le Banquet.
If you enjoy hiking, then the area has some tremendous walks with breathtaking scenery. Come in the autumn and you may well discover wild mushrooms as you trek.

A pretty river runs through the estate at Le Banquet and helps to make the extensive grounds and magnificent gardens an ideal place for relaxation, with ample shade provided by the apple & pear trees.
The large 40ft x 20ft swimming pool & toddler’s splash pool are positioned to gain maximum hours of sunshine with plenty of sun beds, tables & chairs and umbrellas.
Children are well catered for with acres of space to play football, cricket or rounders and a play area with swings, slide, basketball net & boules court.
The games barn houses table tennis, table football, pool, darts, hopscotch, giant connect 4, loads of board games & plenty of toys for the toddlers.It also houses an extensive DVD library, and an information corner with hundreds of leaflets & books on places to visit and things to do & see in the wonderful local area.
Each home at Le Banquet is extremely well equipped with all modern comforts including UK satellite TV, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, etc. together with its own terrace, outside furniture and BBQ.
