Welcome to Beaux Souvenirs, the owner's on-site fashion museum, a lovely adult-only gite with a unique difference. During their stay, guests get a one-hour guided museum tour illustrating all aspects of 20th-century women's fashion. The gite is part of a 19th-century stone-built coach house with a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees, herbs and flowering plants surrounding a 12m x 6m swimming pool. This pool is private and for the sole use of Beaux Souvenir occupants.
Beaux Souvenirs has secure parking by the front door.
The interior decor is an eclectic blend of old and new, vintage and modern, offering an interesting twist to the building's traditional features. The large, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has plenty of room to chill out after a long day, and the smart TV is perfect for catching up on all your favourite programmes. Upstairs there are two lovely double bedrooms with very comfortable sprung king-size beds, making this property ideal for two couples or two people who prefer a separate room. On the ground level, enjoy the gorgeous bathroom with twin vanity units, a toilet, and a spacious walk-in shower. For your convenience, quality cotton bed linen, towels and pool towels are included.

The French doors in the kitchen lead to a shaded patio with an outside table, lounging chairs, and barbecue. There is a lovely herb garden for the benefit of guests to use whilst staying. With crystal clear air and sky at night full of stars, our gite is perfectly placed for relaxation and to completely unwind.

The owners who live on-site, are available for holiday advice and ideas, whilst keeping a respectful distance maintaining the privacy of guests.

A lovely, private & quiet gite which we have truly appreciated. Yet, near enough to the village to walk for a coffee, bread and the Tuesday market. The pool was beautiful and for our sole use. The area is truly interesting, abundant chateaux, lovely towns such as Brantome, abundant walks. Our hosts Vanessa & William are a font of knowledge and a wonderful & warm couple. Thank you for everything!

Restaurants, food & wine

There are many local restaurants within a ten-minute car journey from family-run bistros and outdoor pizza ovens to the sampling the classic Perigord Menu at the nearby Logis Hotel in La Coquille. For those that like fine dining within an hour's journey there are 5 Michelin one-star restaurants with the nearest in Brantome just 30 minutes away. Mialet has a superb pizza van cooking delicious fresh pizza to order on a Friday night, perfect for those who don't wish to cook on their last night.

This area is famous for its food from the Limousin beef ( as sold by the village butcher), chestnuts, strawberries, duck, foie gras, Black Truffles, madeleine cakes and much more. Local food can be bought at markets with the largest and most famous at Piegut Pluviers 30 minutes drive. This market which runs through the village streets, is located on the border of the Charente region, so you can look out for the sweet Charente melons as well as the world-famous Charente slippers, great gifts to take home.

Activities

Based in the North Dordogne, there is a vast selection of activities in the area for example; horse riding, fishing, walking, bike riding and golf. Less than 2km from the village lies the Barrage de Miallet, a beautiful man-made reservoir and bird sanctuary. It features a scenic 9km circular walk around the lake, and with picnic benches its a great place to enjoy breakfast or simply watch the sun go down over the water at the close of the day. Our village of Miallet is in the heart of the Perigord/Limousin Regional Nature Park and as such the air is so pure that delicate feathered eau de nil coloured lichen hang from the trees in our garden. Also, the sky at night is packed with stars which you can view at a local observatory close by. Our area is also a haven for food lovers and you can do many things from visiting farms and watch cheese making to learning about honey at a bee farm and sample ales at the local brewery. There is a snail farm close by as well as many fois gras producers and in the winter season, you can even participate in the hunt for the famous black truffles. For bargain hunters each weekend you can choose from vide greniers (car boot sales), brocants, and we can help you find the best factory outlets for top-end fashion and porcelain too. Finally, if that's not enough then you will also find festivals and fetes to celebrate every aspect of French life from vintage to strawberry fairs. We have a private fashion museum for the benefit of interested guests and a small gym which guest may also use..

Further remarks

There is so much to explore in this area! Within a short drive, you can visit castles, caves with prehistoric art, and charming villages like Brantome, known as the Venice of the Perigord. If you venture a bit further, you'll discover two historic cities. Perigueux is famous for its stunning cathedral, designed by the same architect as the Sacre Coeur in Paris. The medieval streets are filled with unique shops, including delicious handmade chocolate and cake shops. Don't miss the Roman museum showcasing the remains of a merchant's house. And in Limoges, the heart of the porcelain industry, you can admire the world's largest collection of porcelain at the museum!
