The house
In a rural and quiet environment, you will find our beautiful holiday home, consisting of a large living room with a wood-burning stove and a large kitchen which is equipped with all conveniences. From the kitchen you can walk through 2 doors into the large garden (approx. 2200m2). In the garden there is a playground for the children and a swimming pool (8 x 4), which is shared with the caretakers (if present).
Adjacent to the living room is a large bedroom with bathroom/toilet/shower en suite.
On the first floor of the holiday home are 3 large bedrooms and a bathroom/toilet/shower.
The house is as much as possible in the old French style (en pierre) built and remained but further with the necessary modern gadgets.
Free Wi-Fi is available.
Pets are not allowed.

Swimming pool (not heated, (occasional) shared use caretaker(s)) open after May holiday until autumn holiday.

The surroundings of the holiday home are characterised by hilly vistas with cosy and picturesque villages in between. The holiday home is situated on the Richard Lionheart Route, a beautiful historical route with many castles and large estates. In the village of Chalus, Richard the Lionheart was murdered in the Middle Ages; the ruins of the castle can be visited. Many castles and estates along the route can also be visited. At 3 km from the holiday home you will find a bakery and a butcher. In Chalus there is a large supermarket, pharmacy, shops and not to forget the weekly market. The tourist office is also located here. Within a radius of 20 km of the holiday home, you will find a number of caves, riding stables, swimming and fishing lakes (freely accessible), forests, footpaths and villages each with their own market and shops. Within a radius of 40 km there are several larger cities (e.g. Limoges), a zoo, museums (e.g. Oradour-sur-Glane) and more swimming and fishing lakes.
The holiday home is located in a rural/agrarian environment. This makes it absolutely quiet and with the beautiful large garden and swimming pool in it, it is a good place to be: you don't have to do anything and yet there is a lot to do in the area!

Restaurants, food & wine
There are a number of interesting restaurants in the vicinity of the holiday home. Among them are also Dutch restaurant owners who have lived in the area for many years. Another speciality of the area is the foie gras, fortunately mostly made in a natural and ecological way. Their meat is often used in local dishes and of course in traditional butcher shops. Every village and town has its own market, especially during the summer months. For this, too, go to the tourist office for the days when they take place.
Activities
In the vicinity of our holiday home, you can visit many museums (depending on the season). In addition, the famous markets and antiques. There are activities for young and old and this information is very clear at the tourist office. The many fishing and swimming lakes ensure that with the children 'a day at the beach' does not have to be so far away. There are (sports) activities and attractions in various villages in the area. To be able to fish, a fishing licence is often required, which can be obtained from the local tourist office. A visit to cities like Limoges, Perigueux, Angouleme and even Bergerac are also very nice to do. Very worthwhile is a visit to the beautiful Brantome.

Further remarks
The holiday home is characterised as a very beautifully restored farmhouse in which many old features and elements have been preserved. A country style, mixed with beautiful colours and modern gadgets makes this house a pleasant home in which one can feel at ease. And if you thought you had ever experienced a dark and silent night: it is incredibly quiet and pitch-black here in the evening and at night! Something we cannot imagine in the Netherlands, but here it still exists! There is also a large garden at your disposal where the little ones can have a great time. The swimming pool (8 x 4m) is also in the garden at the holiday home. This is (occasionally) shared with the caretaker (s), if present.

When you want to book, the owner/landlord will send you a reservation form, which you are requested to fill in and return.

The gite needs to be cleaned by yourself, this will be done for you against payment of € 200.00. In all cases, you must clean the kitchen and BBQ yourself!
Cot hire (+ high chair) = € 7.50 per week
Bed linen = € 10.00 per person per stay
Towel set (towel, bath towel and flannel) = € 8.00 per person per stay
Kitchen linen (2 x towel, 2 x tea towel, 2 x dish towel) = € 10.00
