Welcome to 'Vallée dorée', a holiday home located in Haute-Vienne, the green heart of France!
You can enjoy the still unspoilt environment in peace and quiet.
Vallée dorée offers you exclusive privacy on a 1.5-hectare site. If you wish to invite friends and/or family, you also have the option of renting a few luxury tents. (You and your party will be the only guests! You can relax and fully enjoy the domain with its heated swimming pool, comfortable garden furniture, hammocks and atmospheric pool lighting.
The holiday home is a restored farmhouse on the edge of a small hamlet where time has stood still. It has 3 spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms. For a clear overview, we have added a floor plan to the photo album.

Holiday home Vallée dorée is located in a small hamlet called "Cros", part of the village "Dompierre-les-Eglises". Cros consists of about twenty houses where time has stood still. It is a quaint little hamlet amidst vast, hilly countryside, forests and lakes. In fact, the Haute Vienne is a region that is very green with many rural villages. It is also a quiet region where tourism has not yet caught on and where you can enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful nature. Haute-Vienne is one of the three departments of Limousin, located next to Creuse and Corrèze. Cros is in the middle of three large natural parks. To the south are the parks regional Perigord- Limousin and Millevache en Limousin. To the north, Cros borders the park naturel regional de la Brenne.

Voor ons de eerste keer in de Limousin en zeker niet de laatste keer! Vallee Doree....wat een fantastische plek en wat een uitzicht en rust..het absolute "niets", als je daarvan houd natuurlijk. In het gehuchtje Cros heeft de tijd echt stilgestaan.
We hebben genoten van de stilte, de uilen, het zwembad, het enorme, mooie aangelegde, landgoed (want dit kan je geen tuin noemen!) Prima (groot) huis met een goede keukenuitrusting. Zeer vriendelijke, behulpzame eigenaren die je optimale privacy bieden (en een lekker glas wijn als je wilt), bedankt Dirk en Ann voor de fijne tijd die we bij jullie hadden en zeker tot ziens!James Pugh from Thatcham,
A beautiful location with a lovely owner.
Our small family had an amazing week at Vallee Dorree, thank you Dirk.
So the positives:
The most phenonemal oustide- a truly beautiful pool, a little orchard an an acre or two or property to explore
Also has a lovely terrace with a huge table and a couple of bbqs near the pool
We spent almost the whole week in the pool to be honest- it was very hot- 37degrees !
The kitchen has a very nice hob and fridge freezer and is very well equipped- it has an espresso maker (any chance of a nespresso machine Dirk?)
It also has very fast internet properly distributed so you can even use it in the garden.
The lounge and family bathroom are lovely.
The owners are very friendly and really helpful- we found a couple of bulbs out which they fixed very very quickly
The property was spotless when we arrived- very clean which is lovely.
There are some lovely looking bell tents which would swallow a family or two- this would be an amazing spot for an extended family- you could fit 2 famiilies in the house and 2 more in the tents and with the space on the grounds you'd never feel on top of each other.There aren't any negatives, but a couple of observations:
One half of the house has been very well renovated, the other half has been partially renovated, but is still quite rustic. It will look amazing when finished- but its not quite there yet. Don't let this put you off though.
The location is very very rural- there is very little locally. Lac Pardoux was very good for kids, and it would be an amazing spot for cycling as you'd only see a couple of cars an hour. Using a telescope would also be amazing. Be aware that most shops shut between 1230 and 1430! The pace of life is much slower which took a bit of getting used to. Its not an area that is dominated by tourists- you have to book most restaurants and their opening hours are somewhat flexible!In any case we LOVED vallee doree, Thank you Dirk :)

We hebben een zalige tijd gehad in Vallee Doree. We hebben genoten van het zwembad, de rust en het uitzicht. Het vakantiehuis is voorzien van alle comfort! We komen zeker nog eens terug. Bedankt Dirk
Restaurants, food & wine
In " Le Dorat" a small village about 17 km from Cros, the delicious "Marches de Producteurs" are organised every Thursday during the summer months (July and August). Local farmers and traders in meat, dairy and vegetables display their best wares. These are displayed in various stalls on the market square. You can buy limousin beef and local vegetables at very democratic prices. And if you don't feel like preparing everything at home...they will prepare it for you! There are several BBQ,s where you can have your meat roasted. Large tables are set, plates and cutlery are provided...conviviality prevails!
Activities
Of course, this region lends itself enormously to organising extensive small and/or large walks and cycling routes. There are various routes that take you to idyllic, nostalgic and romantic places. Staff maps and various walking and cycling maps are available from us free of charge.
Swimming and other water sports:
For an enjoyable family outing, visit the Lac Saint Pardoux lake. The lake covers 300 hectares and is hidden among the woods. From Vallée Dorée it is just under twenty minutes' drive. Lots of activities are organised for young and old. Apart from the various walking routes, you can also go water-skiing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing, horse riding, archery, tennis, mountain biking...there is a beach volleyball field and a real adventure park. For the little ones, there is a giant bouncy castle park.

Extra equipped tent can be rented at 250,00 euro per week (please state the number of extra persons who might stay overnight in the tent).
A deposit of 350,00 euro is to be paid to the following account IBAN BE21 0636 7774 5503 or to be paid on arrival. The deposit will be returned to your account 1 week after your departure if no serious defects have been found.
Pets are only allowed after consultation. Price: € 10,00 per dog, per week

Jacuzzi: 80.00 euros/week is not rented per day!
Dogs are welcome on the site at 10.00 euros per stay per dog.
An additional furnished tent can be hired at 250 euros per week. Please indicate how many extra persons you would like to add! The number of persons will be charged at 50 euros per night per person.
During the period from the end of October to the end of March heating is charged at cost price (heating oil).
