The house
The holiday home "Lamoulière and La Maison des Vignerons" is the residential house "Lamoulière" supplemented by the recently (2011) renovated gîte "La Maison des Vignerons" which is located right next to the house.
The old farm from about 1800 is located in Villeneuve de Duras, a village on the axis between St.Foy la Grande (12 km.) and Duras (9 km.). The house and gîte are never rented to two different families: You are therefore always the sole user of the domain, garden and swimming pool.
The whole complex has 5 bedrooms, 3 modern bathrooms (with shower), a fully equipped kitchen, a covered terrace with teak garden chairs, a well kept, enclosed garden of 36 a with a private forest and a private heated swimming pool of 12 m by 6 m with pool house. From the pool you have a panoramic view of the surroundings. Around the pool you will find a sunbathing area, a sun terrace and plenty of sun loungers.
The tastefully furnished house "Lamoulière" consists of 3 bedrooms, a living room/kitchen and two bathrooms. On the ground floor you will find a living room/kitchen (6*6m) with sitting area, a bedroom with two beds (90*200) and a bathroom with shower and toilet. On the first floor, accessed by a wooden staircase from the living room, you will find a very spacious bedroom (6*6m) with a double bed (160*200) and a sitting area. On this floor there is also a second bedroom with four beds (90*200) and a second bathroom with shower and WC.
In the house you have at your disposal a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, central heating, wood-burning stove, iron and ironing board, cot and baby chair, a barbecue, TV with satellite reception, telephone and wireless internet connection (ADSL/Wifi).
Right next to the house you will find the gite "La Maison des Vignerons". Recently (2011) we converted this barn into two additional rooms and a bathroom. Downstairs you will find a room that can be used as a sitting room. The room is equipped with a solid sofa that can be transformed into a double bed. Upstairs there is an additional bedroom with two single beds and a separate bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC.
Lamoulière is a hamlet of four houses between Villeneuve de Duras and Saint Astier de Duras. The hamlet is situated amidst vineyards and plum plantations at 800 metres from the centre of Villeneuve de Duras.

The house is very quietly situated in a small hamlet of 4 houses between Villeneuve de Duras and Saint-Astier, 800 metres from the main road between St. Foy and Duras. It is surrounded by vineyards and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. If you are looking for peace and quiet you have come to the right place.
In Villeneuve de Duras you will find a bakery, restaurant, grocery shop, garage with petrol station and several wine companies. From May to October there is a weekly market with fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and meat. The house is surrounded by vineyards, plum orchards and fields of sunflowers and rapeseed.
The region around Villeneuve de Duras has a lot to offer: a visit to the various villages in the neighbourhood, the castle and museums of Duras, the vineyards and wine estates of the Côtes de Duras, golf, canoeing on the Dordogne, the Lot or the Dropt, a visit to one of the castles or caves in the Dordogne, a day trip to Bordeaux, Sain-Emilion or the bastide towns or fine dining in one of the many typical restaurants.
Nice restaurants with a typical cuisine can be found in Duras, Sainte-Foy, Monteton, Saussignac and Auriac-sur-Dropt. You can take a refreshing dive in your own private swimming pool. The pool is heated from mid-May to 26° C. You can play golf at the domain of the Château de Vigiers Country Club (6 km).
In the canton of Duras there is always something to experience from the beginning of May until the end of October: typical feasts in the various villages, barbecues on a wine estate, music concerts in the castle of Duras, walks and mountain bike rides.
Those who want to drive a bit further can visit St. Foy la Grande, situated on the Dordogne river (12 km), Bergerac (25 km) and the medieval city of Saint-Emilion (40 km). A visit to the region of the Dordogne and the Perigord Noir with its many castles, caves and picturesque towns such as Sarlat is definitely recommended. Also in the department of Lot-et-Garonne there is a lot to visit: the small villages and bastide towns like Eymet, Monpazier, Monflanquin and Villaréal and the castle of Bonaguil.
Be sure to visit Bordeaux (80 kilometres) and the Arcachon basin with, among others, the Dune de Pilat (highest dune in Europe), the Parc Ornitologique du Teich (bird reserve) and the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean (110 kilometres).

Villeneuve de Duras belongs to the area where the appelation côtes de Duras is made. In the vicinity of the holiday house are several wineries to visit where one can taste and buy to one's heart's content. The house is equipped with a wine cellar with wines from various domains in the area. The wines can be tasted at the price of the domain !
Eating is possible in several typical restaurants for less than no money. Count from 18 EUR for an extensive four-course meal. At noon you can already find a menu du jour for 12 EUR. We can recommend the best and most typical restaurants in the area! Typical dishes of the region are: foie gras (goose liver), magret de canard (duck) and salade de gesiers (salad with fried duck stomachs - a must!).
In the summer season, you can also eat at one of the many folk festivals in the surrounding villages or at one of the wineries.

The garden is enclosed and the swimming pool is also fully enclosed and alarmed. From mid-May to mid-October, the pool is permanently heated to 26°C. There is a large garden with several fruit trees and a forest. The house is very suitable for families with small children.
A plus point is certainly the climate: from mid-April it starts to get pleasantly warm. May and June are very pleasant spring months; in July and August, the temperature often rises to around 30 °C. September is a pleasant month and you often have beautiful sunny days in this region until approximately the middle and even the end of October.
