The house
Maison La Roche is a charming 2bedroom 2 shower room cottage with luxury touches like good quality linens, dishwasher and heated plunge pool from mid May until mid October!! Set in a tranquil picturesque location within easy walking distance of 3 local restaurants with more available just over the River within a 1km walk. Your hosts Jo and Jamshid are on hand to welcome you and assist you throughout your stay and they live on site. .
The interior of the cottage consists of a well equipped kitchen with Electric Oven, gas Hob, microwave, Nespresso Coffee machine, toaster and a good selection of cooking implements with spices and oils available to get you started, good quality glasses and crockery are provided. There is also a charcoal BBQ in the orchard which you are welcome to use.
There is a dining table and 4 chairs in the kitchen and a wood burner for colder evenings.
The cosy living room is just one step up next to the kitchen which contains a large flat screen TV with UK Satelite TV and French TV.
Free Wifi is available throughout the Gite.
There is a beautiful double bedroom downstairs off the Living room with a comfortable Kingsize bed.
The shower room is also downstairs and includes luxurious towels and free toiletries and accessories.
Upstairs there is another bedroom with a comfortable Kingsize bed (160x200) and ensuite shower room. Ceiling fan in this bedroom.
Both Bedrooms have hairdryers provided.
Quality linens are provided throughout.
There is no washing machine in the Gite but there is a washing machine available in the nextdoor chambre d'hote which Gite guests will have access to. There is an iron and ironing board provided.
No smoking permitted inside the cottage but ashtrays are provided outside.
The pool and orchard garden is private for Gîte guests only during summer, outside these times it can be shared with hosts and chambre d'hote guests, please confirm with us before booking, if you require private access outside these times a supplement may be applied.
We welcome up to two (small, medium or 1 large) well behaved, house trained and friendly dogs(no puppies). They must not be left unattended in the Gite for long periods and they are not permitted in the pool although we can provide a small child's pool or hose on hot days 😁. Fortunately Dogs are welcome in most places including cafes and restaurants throughout France so they can enjoy their holiday too!

Maison La Roche Gite is situated in a picturesque location at the top of a hill looking towards the river on the edge of the tiny village of Bourpeuil. It is a quiet location which is a short work from two restaurants and the town of L'isle Jourdain which has many amenities such as a supermarket, cafes, banks etc.
It is a short drive from the International Racing Circuit which is busy throughout most of the year, it attracts world class racing drivers and hosts training days for amateurs also so is well worth a visit, check out their website for events held most weekends.
The Gite is ideally located for walking for biking as the scenery is some of the best in the Vienne, we like the fact that we are just a short walk away from the town but still close enough to benefit from all the amenities without having to drive if we don't want to. Everywhere is dog friendly apart from the supermarkets so take your dog with you and enjoy the holiday together!!

We had a great stay at Joanne and Jamshid’s place. A warm welcome, great facilities, clean and very private. We brought a little dog that could enjoy himself in the garden without the risk of running away. We enjoyed the pool, BBQ and deck greately, and definitely recommend staying here.

Restaurants, food & wine
We have a fabulous new restaurant named "Les Reflets" just a 500 metre walk from the Gîte, situated on the River facing the spectacular Viaduct and open most days, this Restaurant is very popular with visitors and residents alike!!
We are also very lucky to have a 2nd restaurant/bar which is open during the week and just a 200 metre flat stroll from the Gite at the Hotel Viaduc, great for Pizzas, burgers or steaks!
There is another restaurant just down the hill from the Gite called La Barrage and it is situated on the river and serves a fabulous lunch menu, try and book a table on the terrace. They also do a fish and chips evening on the first Friday of every month and open some other evenings as they see fit.
There are a couple more restaurants over the River in L'isle Jourdain itself about 10 minutes walk away, calledLe Loucky and Le10.
We can also recommend some excellent restaurants within a short drive of the Gîte. 😁
Activities
Maison La Roche is situated in a picturesque area which is wonderful to walk around and enjoy the views.
There is fishing down on the river Vienne just 200metres down the hill from the Gite.
There is Bungee Jumping off the spectacular 19th century Viaduct and adventure climbing trails and zip lining across the river, suitable for all ages.
There is also a waterskiing school in L'isle Jourdain so why not have a go?!
Nearby village of Moussac offers kayaking along the river.
There are many other activities in the area, with open air concerts and vide Greniers to search out during the summer months.
Of course we are just 4km from the International Motor Racing Circuit Val de Vienne in Le Vigeant which hosts many events throughout the year including supercar events and motorbikes. Check out their website.
There are many interesting towns and villages in the surrounding area. One of our favourites on a Sunday is Saint Savin which is a beautiful town and boasts a fabulous Abbey and several restaurants which are open on a Sunday. Perhaps hunt down a nearby Vide Grenier beforehand...
We are approx 1 hour drive to either city of Poitiers or Limoges with their airports offering many bargain flight options. However a car is recommended here if you want to look around the area but it is not essential. We offer an airport pickup for guests up to 3 people 50 euro each way payable on arrival.
If all of that sounds like to much effort you can always relax in the fully fenced orchard just across from the Gite which has sunloungers, picnic table and plunge pool for cooling off in the warm weather. If you need a larger pool for exercise there is a good size public swimming pool a short flat walk (15minutes) from the Gite(no baggy shorts permitted).

Additional price info and offers
Security deposit is payable 4 weeks before arrival, the landlord will send you a separate invoice with payment link. Security deposit will be returned within 7 days of departure less any damages or extra cleaning fees(if any deductions you will be informed by email). We expect any damages to be reported to us immediately and any extra costs incurred to be paid for before departure. Thank you.
The Gite is expected to be left clean and tidy with the kitchen in order so a normal professional clean can then be carried out by us for the next guests arrival. (Excessive extra cleaning will be charged at 20 euros per hour and deducted from security deposit) Thank you. 🙏
If you are bringing a dog please confirm with us before making the booking and you must select the cleaning charge before paying this is to cover the extra deep clean carried out after our furry friends have departed. 😊 We do expect dog owners to clean up after their dogs and vacuum regularly during their stay. 🙏🐶
Wood if needed for wood burner in cooler periods is available, first basket per day is free with a small charge (5 euros)for extra wood, Normal electric heating is also included. Charging of cars is not included, please use the fast charging point 200 metres from the Gîte. 😊
