The house
Maison Tekke is a detached bungalow in private grounds with views of the Pyrenees and Lagarde, the ruins of a castle and in the distance Monsegur a Cathar fortress.
There is a surrounding garden with many perennials, trees and shrubs, there are four terraces, one of which is covered.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a four-burner gas hob, fridge, oven-microwave, dishwasher, electric kettle, Nespresso machine, regular coffee machine, juicer and a toaster. In the storage room, there is a second refrigerator, freezer, large boiler, barbecue, table grill, iron and ironing board.
Crockery and pans are plentiful.
The large kitchen is separated from the living room by a small wall.
The kitchen has an extra dining area.
In the living room with high ceiling there are two sofas and two chairs, a fireplace, a dining area with comfortable chairs.
Wireless Wi-Fi connection, TV with Dutch and foreign channels, also all French.
One bedroom has a double bed with single duvets, the other has two single beds.
There is wardrobe space in both.
The bathroom has a shower and a washbasin with storage space.
Separate toilet.
Towels and duvet covers may be used, but must be left clean.
For 7,50 euro p.p. the help can wash the duvet covers, one towel per person and the kitchen towels for you.
Of course you can also bring your own.
The house is heated with electric radiators.

The origins of the town of Treziers are closely linked to the parish of Saint Martin de Treziers. The oldest text mentioning it, in Latin as Sanctus Martinus de Tresaria, dates from 1296. A slightly more recent document (1372) mentions Sant Marti tras i ers in old occitan.
The parish under the protection of St. Martin (that saint who shared his cloak in the cold) was founded to serve several hamlets around Roumangoux. Tras' in Occitan (as in Spanish) means 'behind' or 'on the other side of'. Ers" refers to the little river "l'Hers" which runs between Roumangoux and Treziers.
There used to be a castle in Tréziers, but it burned down, only the heavy foundation can still be seen at the exit towards Camon and La Bastide de Boussignac. A few walls are still visible in the house of Mr. and Mrs. März, of the Mercedes garage behind it. There are no other shops or establishments in Tréziers. The church is only opened for weddings and funerals. The village has only 102 inhabitants, and it is safe to assume that not all of them are devout. It is quiet in Tréziers, so all inhabitants know each other at least superficially. Different nationalities live in the village, but it has remained the French countryside and has not become an enclave of foreign fortune-seekers or pensioners. Especially the views of the Chateau de Lagarde, situated three kilometres away on the other side of the L'Hers, with the Pyrenees in the background, make Tréziers a very special place.
Toulouse is a beautiful, cosmopolitan student city with a rich history, at an hour's drive from Maison Tekke.

Fijn huis met prachtige tuin en terrassen, heel compleet en smaakvol ingericht. Mooi uitzicht op de Pyreneën , gelegen in rustig dorpje op 10 km van oude stad Mirepoix waar winkels en horeca zijn te vinden. Omgeving met gevarieerde landschappen, wandel- en fietsroutes o.a. over voormalige spoorlijn.

We hebben weer enorm genoten van het fijne huis, de gezellige borreluurtjes op een van de terrassen, de uitstapjes naar Toulouse, Limoux , Pamiers met de wekelijkse rommelmarkt en niet te vergeten het schilderachtige Mirepoix, met veel terrasjes en zo dichtbij.
We komen zeker terug.

Blanquette de Limoux is the first, and therefore original sparkling wine. It was "discovered" more or less by accident in 1531 in a Benedictine monastery near Limoux (see St-Hilaire). It was only a century later that Dom Perignon took the recipe to Champagne.
Domaine Gayda used to be known for its large vineyards and the simple table wines that were produced there. The English/French couple Tim and Barbara Ford have greatly improved the quality of the wines and given the Domaine new allure. The winery has 19 hectares of vineyards and they use the grape varieties Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Carignan, Grenache Noir, Syrah and Cinsault. The grapes are only picked when they are fully ripened and because of this, the alcohol content of the wines can increase considerably. These grapes are all harvested by hand and strictly selected. All equipment used by Domaine Gayda is modern and the latest technology.
Domaine Le Fort developed a new dynamic from 1995 onwards thanks to the takeover by a younger generation. In 2000 the vinification installations and the maturing cellar were enlarged and modernised. Stéphanie and Marc Pagès now cultivate almost 40 hectares of vineyards from which they make fifteen cuvées, each with a distinctive character. Expressive aromas combined with a firm and full round taste are their guiding principles. The Domaine Le Fort vineyards are the most western of the whole Languedoc, with a view on the Pyrenees and at 80 km from the Mediterranean Sea. They are south oriented on clay and limestone hillsides and enjoy a climate that is the transition between the atlantic humidity and the Mediterranean heat.
Activities
In Roumengoux, a few kilometres from Maison Tekke, there is a horse-riding farm, where lessons are given and from where trips in the Pyrenees can be made.

In Aigues Vives, about five kilometres from Tréziers (on the road from Mirepoix to Lavelanet) you can play carting on an 'international circuit'.
With 2,500 km of fast-flowing rivers, mountain streams and ordinary rivers, Midi-Pyrénées is also a vibrant region that is blue in the face. Take the opportunity to try out water sports (canoe, kayak, canyoning, rafting, hydrospeed...) in complete freedom or accompanied by professionals who will guarantee you a comfortable experience and safety.

Further remarks
Falling under the county of Foix, Mirepoix (8km from Treziers) fell to the Cathars at the end of the 12th century and became a flourishing centre. In 1209, the town was seized by Simon de Montfort, who handed it over to his lieutenant Guy de Lévis
Originally, the town was situated on the right bank of the river l'Hers, but was completely washed away by a heavy flood in 1286. It was completely rebuilt on the other side of the river on a natural plateau made available by the lord of Mirepoix. Mirepoix is therefore not so much a 'bastide' (a new centre of repopulation) as an old city rebuilt on a new site. Until 1801, Mirepoix was the seat of a bishop.
Today, not much more than three thousand people live in Mirepoix, but the town is a lively centre of a large area. Supermarkets, shops, restaurants, terraces and especially the market on Monday morning, are fixed points of reference for many people. There is always something to do in Mirepoix.
