The house
Les Tilleuls is an attractive and popular two-bedroom gite that comfortably sleeps five. It is one of six charming family holiday homes at the Chateau du Fraissinet, a beautiful country house with a river running alongside, in the foothills of the Cevennes mountains in southern France.
The Château is full of history; in 1640 it was registered as a fortified farm presided over by a Seigneur. Today it has six independent holiday homes offering attractive and comfortable accommodation.
Les Tilleuls is spread over three floors and the bedrooms are situated downstairs making them wonderfully cool on hot summer nights.
Accommodation comprises;
Living/dining/kitchen area with smart TV & wood-burning stove
Fully-equipped American kitchen with cooker, microwave and dishwasher
Shower room with WC and walk-in Italian-style shower
Stairs to family bedroom with three standard single beds (90 x 190cm) plus second WC and wash basin
Three steps lead into the double bedroom with larger-than-kingsize bed (160 x 200 cm)
Elevated wooden terrace for sundown apéritifs
Outside dining area with table, chairs and barbecue.
Les Tilleuls features a large living area with a comfortable sofa, a dining table and a fully-equipped kitchen area. French doors lead out to a raised wooden terrace with views across the garden and into the chestnut woods.There is also an outside dining table, chairs and parasol.
The main bedroom is stone vaulted and is on the lower floor with a small window and a door out into the courtyard. The family bedroom is on the middle floor. This room has a large window and a separate wc with wash hand basin. This gite works really well for families or two couples sharing.

We had a great stay at Chateau du Fraissinet. We stayed at the gîte ‘les Acacias ‘ Which is a cool and spacious gîte for 3 personen. The kids loved the swimmingpool and the quiet area. Lots of things to do in the area: a beautifull lake to go kayakking, acrobranching 20 km’s away, nice villages in the area to visit and the friendly hosts of course. We come back for sure !!

Wij (gezin met twee kinderen van 10 en 11 jaar oud) hebben een heerlijke week vakantie gehad in Chateau Fraissinet. Het landgoed is prachtig en biedt volop ruimte en rust. Ons Chateau Appartement was van alle gemakken voorzien. Het zwembad was heerlijk warm en in de directe omgeving (1 minuut met de auto) ligt een meer waar je kunt zwemmen, waterfietsen, suppen, enz. Chris & Alison zijn uitstekende hosts! Wij hebben ons prima vermaakt.
Muggen/insecten zijn wel een dingetje (maar dat is overal in Zuid-Frankrijk): neem genoeg anti-prik/-jeuk sprays mee en klamboes die gemakkelijk te bevestigen zijn (in de plafonds zitten geen haken oid). In de nachten kan het warm zijn, dus ventilatoren meenemen is ook raadzaam.inkie struijk from Bemelen,
Hele fijne plek om te relaxen en midden in de natuur te zijn. Van alles te doen in de buurt. Heerlijk zwembad en fijne sfeer. Genoeg privacy. We zaten er met 3 kinderen, super vakantie gehad!
Restaurants, food & wine
Our local 'Auberge du Fraissinet' is just a 300m walk along the river bank. There is also a small campsite opposite which has a snack bar. There are several other restaurants near by which serve good local cuisine.
There is an excellent twice weekly market in the nearby town which sells local produce including honey and pelardon - goats cheese - which is a regional speciality.
Activities
Les Tilleuls (at Chateau du Fraissinet) has a great swimming pool with splash pools for younger kids, and the River Gardon is literally at the bottom of the garden for swimming, fishing or your inflatable boat.
Table tennis is also onsite.
The property is 2 minutes from the Lac de Camboux where you can fish, swim, hire a kayak or take out a pedalo. The Ardeche, Tarn and Ceze rivers where you can also kayak or swim are all within easy reach.
There are several stunning caves to visit in the vicinity as well as the historic towns of Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon and Uzes. The iconic Roman Pont du Gard is also nearby. Just a short drive away (30mins) we also have a choice of Forest parks, where kids and adults can test their nerve on zip wires and rope works.
And, we are just 90 minutes away from the Mediterranean sea with the beaches of l'Espiguette and le Grau du Roi being popular day trips for our guests.
There are lots of wonderful local walks as the Chateau du Fraissinet is on the border of the wild and beautiful Cevennes National Park.
Please note that the pool and grounds are shared by all the guests at the Chateau.

Further remarks
Chateau du Fraissinet is a perfect place for a family holiday. There is a fantastic low-chlorine pool with a shallower pool and a 'stream' for small children to play in. Lots of space (2 hectares) for children to play and explore, and a river running along the property for fishing, swimming, paddling or inflatable boats, and a lake just 2km away where you can swim and hire boats.

Notes on accommodation:
The quoted prices are inclusive of end of stay cleaning charge. A linen pack is available for hire at 20€ per person per week. This includes bed linen, a shower and hand towel. Guests are asked to bring their own towel for swimming. Alternatively one can be hired for an additional 5€ per week.
A cot with bed linen and a high chair are available free of charge. Gas and electricity are included in the price and each gite is supplied with tea towels and oven gloves. Wood can be supplied for the fires for a small charge. Charcoal only for bbq's is permitted in high season for security reasons.
Outside:
Each gite has it's own outside dining area complete with table, chairs, parasol and a BBQ or chiminea.
Filled with natural spring water the BIO UVC pool is a massive hit with holidaymakers of all ages. The pool utilises the latest technology in water purification treatment to keep chemical use to an absolute minimum. A 75w Bio-UVC Germicidal Lamp is used which kills harmful biological contaminants much more effectively than any other known treatment. This works together with low levels of chlorine and chemicals to keep the pool looking its best. The pool area is fenced and alarmed. Main pool measures 12m x 5m x 1.4m. There is a shallow splash pool for small children and a spa pool. The large surface area of the shallow pools and connecting channel helps heat and regulate the water temperature. Sun loungers and chairs are provided.
