The house
Mas Sivelou is a small-scale holiday resort with 7 houses. In this original main house, the authentic details have still been preserved. It is very suitable for a large family or group of friends. There is a terrace around the house and on a higher terrace you can relax under a tree. You can rent the gîte on certain dates for 4 persons at 970€ per week.
From the terrace you enter this cosy cottage in a spacious kitchen with fully equipped kitchen and dining table. Next to it is a small living-/television room with an adjoining hallway with wardrobe and separate toilet with washing machine. From the kitchen a staircase leads to the first floor and into the living room with fireplace. On this floor there is also a large bedroom and separate bathroom with toilet, washbasin, shower and bathtub. The second floor has three bedrooms, located under the sloping roof, and a separate bathroom with toilet, shower and double sink. All bedrooms have two beds that can be used both as single beds (2.00×0.80) and double beds (2.00×1.60).
The terrace in front of the house is covered with grapes so you can enjoy the warm summer evenings in the shade at the long dining table. A barbeque is available. On a higher terrace there are a number of comfortable chairs from where you have a beautiful view over the valley.
The heated swimming pool with beautiful view is located on an even higher terrace and is shared with the other guests.

At the foot of the Cevennes lie the cottages of Mas Sivelou, a 14th century mas (farmhouse), where wine was once grown and silk was made. Mas Sivelou is situated on a hill and has a beautiful view of the valley. The altitude is about 250 m, so still plenty of the warm Mediterranean climate. On the terrain there are a number of olive trees, and plenty of herbs like rosemary, thyme and sage. On the higher terrace you will find the heated swimming pool in the sun, where you can sunbathe on one of our sun beds, open from April 1st to November 1st.
Mas Sivelou is located in a very rural area, but within a fifteen minute drive you are in the old tourist town of Anduze with its many restaurants and terraces, small shops in the centre and three supermarkets. Historical cities like Nimes, Montpellier, Uzes and Avignon are all at about 1 hour's driving distance. The medieval charming village of Sauve, at 7 km, is definitely worth a visit.

Tophuis van alle gemakken voorzien. Lekker ruim en schoon. En niet te vergeten super gastvrij/klantgericht.
Locatie was ook perfect voor ons met leuke dropjes (Durfort, Sauve, Anduze) in de buurt en mooie uitvalbasis voor onze dagtrips (stedenbezoek, hiking en fietsen).

Restaurants, food & wine
Unique wines are made on the neighbouring wine estate. The domain offers guided tours through the vineyards and the cave, including a tasting of course. The Languedoc is the largest wine producer in Europe and at short distance there are dozens of domaines and caves to visit with wines in all price and quality categories. In the surrounding medieval villages there are many small but excellent restaurants.
Activities
On the domain
Waking up to the sound of birdsong, it still exists. Lounging on your private terrace in a relaxing chair or enjoying the beautiful view from a lounger by the solar heated pool; it's all possible. And for more active relaxation, you can, just like the French, play a game of 'pétanque' on the 'jeu de boules' pitch. But also a game of table tennis is one of the possibilities.
In the surroundings
Medieval villages
In the immediate vicinity of Mas Sivelou there are three small and typical southern French villages, each with their own charm. Anduze has a lot to offer to tourists with its Bambouseraie, steam train, many terraces and restaurants. Saint Hipolyte du Fort is more modest and provincial but certainly not less beautiful with its location against some bigger mountains. Sauve is a real medieval artists' village built against the mountains with narrow streets where the car has little access. Don't forget to visit the local coloured markets where many regional products are still displayed and sold.
Wine estates
The wine lover will enjoy the area, the Languedoc is the most important wine producer of France, and in a radius of 20 km you will find dozens of caves and domaines that will be happy to inform you about and let you taste the latest, or previous harvests. Next to Mas Sivelou is a small wine domain where Ronald and Wilma, the former managers of Mas Sivelou, have been producing various wines for a number of years. In the season it is possible to book a tour with a tasting in the cosy wine cave.
Roman architecture
At about a forty-five minute drive you can visit cities like Nimes, with its Roman arena, Avignon with the papal palace and the famous bridge and aqueduct 'Pont du Gard' that raises questions for everyone how such a construction could have been realised in that time. Smaller places like Uzes and Aiges Mortes or a big city like Montpellier, known as 'petit Paris', are also worth visiting.
Nature
The sea is an hour's drive away at the town of Grau du Roi or La grande Motte, you have the choice of quiet large beaches or closer to a lively place. Further to the northwest you will find the high Cevennes with beautiful views and also in high season quiet little roads. With a short day trip, you can visit the "Gorge du Tarn" or the "Vallée de Ceze". In the higher mountains at Mont Aigioul, 1.15 km away, you can go cross-country skiing or skiing in winter.
Sporty
The four most beautiful golf courses are within an hour's drive. "La Campagne" in Nimes is considered one of the five best in France and "La Grande Motte" with 42 holes offers all the variety. Closer by, at a 15 minute drive, you will find a beautifully situated small course of 6 holes. From Sivelou you can go walking and cycling with a choice of hilly or flat terrain, or you can take a mountain bike into the hills and mountains. Horse riding, canoeing, mountaineering are all within easy reach.

Further remarks
In an old Cevenol Mas we have a total of 7 gites with all different owners. Some of these gites are rented out, the others are used for the holidays by the owners themselves. The old style of the buildings has been maintained with the addition of modern comfort. Each gîte has a lot of privacy and the gîtes do not overlook each other's terraces. They are situated in such a way that you cannot see or hear each other. On a higher terrace lies the heated swimming pool with sun beds.
