The house
La Vieille Grange has a floor area of almost 300 m2, the garden is also about 300 m2 and the swimming pool is 6 x 12 m.
The house has four large bedrooms, all with private bathroom, shower, washbasin and toilet.
The largest bedroom (39 m2) has a double bed (160 x 200), a sofa bed, suitable for 2 persons (140x200) and an en suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, toilet and a washbasin. Through folding doors you reach the private terrace of 50 m2, with a view on the old tower of Roquebrun.
In addition, there are two spacious bedrooms with 2 x single beds on the floor and there is another bedroom on the ground floor with a double bed (160 x 200) from this bedroom you can walk straight into the garden...
All beds have duvets.
The salon has a great wood stove (Godin), further there is electric heating throughout the house, which in summer can also function as air conditioning.
In the corridor upstairs is a library with several English and French books. There is also a large bookcase in the downstairs bedroom. The kitchen has an electric cooker with oven, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator and of course a coffee machine, kettle and microwave and Nespresso machine. In the laundry room you will find a washing machine, ironing board and iron.
There is sufficient garden furniture to eat outside and there are 6 sun loungers around the pool and another 4 relaxing chairs.
In the back of the garden there is an old chapel, which is still owned by the old winegrowers family that once owned the whole domaine. They have the right to visit the chapel, but this has not happened in the last 5 years.

Roquebrun is a beautiful sunny village situated against the south slope of the valley of the river Orb. The village is famous for its micro climate, the orange trees grow in the full soil. A walk to the Mediterranean garden at the top of the village is very worthwhile.
La Vieille Grange' was once part of a wine domaine in the centre of Roquebrun.
Now the old 'cave' has been converted into a beautiful spacious, attractive and Provençal country house with swimming pool, suitable for max. 10 persons.
The house breathes an authentic atmosphere but is equipped with all modern luxuries.
Ideal for an unforgettable holiday with your family or your friends.
The bakery, 'office de tourisme' and several restaurants are all within walking distance. As well as the river, the beach and canoeing.
The attractive garden offers an oasis of peace and quiet, and privacy!
A 200 year old pin-parasol, olive tree and mimosas provide enough shade while you can fully enjoy the sun around the pool.
There is also a lawn around the olive tree where the little ones can play.
Oleanders, grapes, lemon trees and rose bushes provide colour and accents around the old chapel in the garden, which is still owned by the wine-growing family who once owned the entire domaine.
In short, the house 'La Vieille Grange', the microclimate of Roquebrun, the river Orb and the beautiful hills of the surroundings offer all elements for a wonderful French stay!

Wij zijn opgetogen over ons verblijf in Roquebrun. Terwijl het in België al herfstweer was genoten wij in La Vieille Grange nog volop van de zon. Het was weliswaar geen zwembadweer meer, maar toch aangename temperaturen, soms tot 26°. We konden enkele avonden buiten eten. De week voordien was het er blijkbaar nog volop zomer, lees snikheet en minder wind.
Het huis is goed gelegen in het centrum van Roquebrun en toch rustig met mooie uitzichten. Alle accomodatie is aanwezig voor een comfortafel verblijf. De eigenaars hebben er ook werk van gemaakt om het huis sfeervol in te richten. De bakker was vlakbij. Er is ook een kleine superette waar je het nodige kan vinden. Vrijdagvoormiddag is er een piepkleine markt met ondermeer een vleeskraam.We hebben genoten van de plaatselijke restaurantjes.We hebben ook de omgeving aangedaan en waren opgetogen over ons bezoek aan Minerve. Wie interesse heeft voor het katharisme komt er aan zijn trekken. Je kan er ook gezellig en lekker eten.

La Vieille Grange
Een comfortabel huis in het magische plaatsje Roquebrun voor ons reisgezelschap van 2 vriendenstellen,
1 met hond en 1 met peuter. Daarnaast een bezoek van een goede vriendin die 1 week ons kwam vergezellen.
Het huis biedt veel ruimte en ademt een fijne sfeer. Een besloten ruime tuin waarbij je verschillende
uitzichten ervaart.
1. Een prachtig 'Toscaans' aandoend heuvellandschap
2. De rotsachtige berg waartegen Roquebrun is gelegen
3. De bedrijvigheid en levendigheid van het stadje zelf en
4. De rivier de Orb.Onder de indruk van de omgeving, het stadje met goede bakker, supermarktje, wijncaves,
vriendelijke mensen, het restaurantje naast de poort, de Orb, de uil in de pinetree bij het terras...Aan te raden:
-De vele wandelingen in de buurt waaronder de wandeling rondje Ceps-Vieussan.
-Olargues is een schitterend dorpje waar je bij de brug heerlijk kunt eten.
-Les Gorges d' Héric is ook de moeite waard, deze hebben wij met kindje in draagrugzak
kunnen lopen, bestempeld als family walk, niet zwaar.
-Wandeling op het massief bij de Gorge d'Héric
-Kanoên op de Orb.
-Bezoek CarcasonneWij zijn nog niet uitgekeken na 2 weken hier verblijven en overwegen dan ook sterk
om voor een volgend jaar weer te boeken!Cordialement,

Restaurants, food & wine
Roquebrun is located in the middle of the vineyards of the AOC Saint-Chinian. The Cave Cooperative has very nice wines. The ladies at the village tourist office can tell you all about the surrounding wine domains, where you are more than welcome to taste their wines!
Activities
The Mediterranean Sea is 45 minutes away.
From the village there are beautiful walks to make, there are hiking booklets available.
Also the Gorges d'Héric and the Caroux are not far away (for the sporty walkers/climbers!).
The cities of the Languedoc are definitely worth a visit. Montpellier, Béziers and Narbonne for example are typical southern French cities with streets full of boutiques and restaurants and beautiful squares and parks. But also a city like Albi with its special cathedral (murals) and Toulouse-Lautrec museum has a cosy, centuries-old centre where it is good to linger.
The city walls and defence works of the medieval fortified cities Carcassonne and Minerve, situated more to the west, are beautiful monuments from the time of the Cathars.

The house has 4 spacious bedrooms, all with private bathrooms.
The largest has doors to a private terrace of 50 m2, with beautiful views of Roquebrun with its Mediterranean gardens and medieval tower.
The other 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor are all spacious and light and have views over the garden.
The fourth bedroom is adjacent to the living room on the ground floor and has French doors to the garden. Perfect for those who do not want to climb stairs.
All these rooms have heating and air conditioning.
