Villa du Luc

Villa du Luc (no.311) is located on Villapark "Les Demeures du Luc" in Saumane-de-Vaucluse, which has 44 holiday villas on large plots. The park is located in the hills between Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse; in the heart of Provence.

The park has a large communal swimming pool of no less than 20x8 metres with a separate shallow children's pool. There is also a communal tennis court which guests can use daily. The park is only accessible via a secure entrance.

In the vicinity of the domaine, in addition to horse riding, canoeing, survival and golf at the extremely beautiful (nearby) "Golf Provence Country Club", you can enjoy local markets, cosy terraces and excellent restaurants.

In the heart of Provence - central in the Vaucluse - is Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a charming, medieval town near Avignon. The centre is known for its antique shops, (antique) markets, monuments and cosy terraces. As its name suggests, the town is built on islets in the Sorgue River. Its historic water mills, canals, famous antique markets (there are no less than 200 home and antique shops!) and culinary facilities give Isle-sur-la-Sorgue an authentic character. The French therefore proudly refer to it as the 'Venice of Provence'.

Near Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, at the source of the Sorgue, is Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. This ancient town is home to France's most powerful spring. The underground river at the foot of the rock is good for as much as 90,000 litres of water per second. Fontaine-de-Vaucluse does not owe its popularity solely to this impressive phenomenon; along the banks of the Sorgue, you can enjoy excellent food and shopping. From Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, there are opportunities to canoe down the Sorgue towards Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Gordes, undoubtedly one of the most touristic towns in the Vaucluse. It seems as if this old town, with all its traditional masonry houses and walls, will slip right off the mountaintop. Famous are the so-called 'Bories', a kind of hut made of stacked stones that served as a sheepfold or shepherd's dwelling.
Luberon, this beautiful regional park is bordered on its southern side by the Grand Lubéron and Petit Lubéron mountain ranges. Here you will find beautiful vineyards and picturesque mountain villages, including Rousillon, Ménerbes, Bonnieux and Lacoste. The latter village is dominated by the ruins of the Marquis de Sade's castle.

Arles: Here you can have a beer on the terrace of Café de Nuit, the establishment made world-famous by Vincent van Gogh. In the city, special Vincent van Gogh pavement tiles allow you to walk in his footsteps. The area around Arles also holds many reminders of Vincent van Gogh and you will stumble upon the views immortalised by him in his paintings.
Avignon: once seat of the Popes and now capital of the Vaucluse department, is just 25 km from Saumane-de-Vaucluse and well worth your visit. From the gardens of the 'Palais des Papes', you have a wonderful view of the famous 'Pont d'Avignon', which is actually called Pont Saint-Bénézet. Several large shopping centres are located in and around Avignon.

The port city of Marseille is just an hour's drive away. It is the capital of Provence and the largest city in France after Paris. The influence of the sea is well felt and while visiting the city, a visit to the centuries-old port is well worthwhile. Enjoy the famous Bouillabaise on one of the many terraces. Off the coast is the island with the Chateau d'If on it. This fortress built by King Francis I off the coast of Marseille owes its fame to Edmond Dantès, the famous Count of Monte-Christo ("the Man with the Iron Mask") described by Alexandre Dumas. For unparalleled views over the city and the sea, climb towards Notre-Dame de la Garde.
If you want to make use of the beach, a little further west you will find the small beaches of the expensive suburb of Carry-le-Rouet, while the seaside resort of Cassis is a bit east of Marseille.
Aix-en-Provence is also an hour's drive away. Aix exudes the atmosphere of the real southern French city with its Cours Mirabeau, a beautiful avenue of plane trees, its beautiful old buildings, its many streets and alleys and squares with terraces.
